Dedicated Volunteers Behind The Scenes

Greetings!

We are lucky to have dedicated volunteers who quietly work in the background to make things happen consistently, week after week.  Have you considered who sets up our meeting room each week?

We owe much gratitude to our Housekeeping Committee:  Jim Connell, Dick Ritchie, and Steve Stolz.  Jim and Dick always arrive early to set up the registration desks, badge boxes, 50/50 raffle, mini-flags on each table, projector, and many other details that make our meeting room so inviting.  Steve volunteered to bring his own projector screen each week to save us more than $5,000 in rental charges over the course of the Rotary year.  We are also grateful to the Naples Beach Hotel staff for setting up the buffet and tables.

Rich Kirschner makes sure that each week we have volunteers working the registration desk, as well as people to give the invocation and introduce visiting Rotarians and guests. Are we running low on $20 gift cards that we give to each student-of-the-month?  Rich buys more.

Mia Delk coordinates the display and sale of our line of Rotary clothing, as well as tracks attendance.  Mia and Rich work closely together with our registration desk volunteers to make sure that everyone is checked in properly, the hotel has the correct headcount for billing purposes, and the money collected is transferred safely to our Treasurer, Steve Stolz.

Since "the basics" are taken care of like clockwork each week, the rest of us can enjoy a fun time at our luncheons.  Thank you Jim, Dick, Steve, Rich, Mia, and all of our weekly registration desk and 50/50 desk volunteers!  Your efforts are critical to the success of our club and we appreciate your hard work!

Yours in Rotary Service,

Frank

Grapes & Apes

Thanks to everyone for your for your strong effort in helping us achieve such success in pre-event ticket sales.  As of this date we have sold over one-third of the tickets for the March event. Please keep in mind that the current event price of $75 is only offered until December 24th and prices will increase on Jan 1st, 2012 to the full face value.

Many of you are holding sold tickets expecting to turn in a large amount all at once but please bring in the money and ticket stubs as you sell the tickets.  It is important to get them turned in weekly.

Grapes and Apes posters and Grapes and Apes business cards are available from the ticket sales committee before and after every meeting so please take them and continue to promote our event.  Your early success will lead to a complete sell out only if we do not let up so please take more tickets. As you already know they are an easy sell.

Thank you again for all of your hard work!

Jim Scartz

As we come to the end of another calendar year, please consider The Rotary Foundation in your giving.  Rotary International seeks Every Rotarian, Every Year (EREY) to give generously and regularly.  In this month's The Rotarian, a member from a Virginia club gives a humorous but fulfilling reason to do so:

"These are my brightest days in Rotary because now I am learning what I can do for Rotary. I give to The Rotary Foundation every year because it feels so good. But I also give to the Foundation because it is the best defense against annoying telemarketers. When they call me I simply say, 'I give my money to The Rotary Foundation, but thanks for calling and have a nice day.' Click!" - Bill Billings, District 7600, Virginia
