Jacques Groenteman
Jacques is a Real Estate Advisor at John R. Wood Realtors and is also a Real Estate investor.  He is a long time member of our club and is a past president.

Jacques and his wife, Barbara, a fine artist, recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.
They enjoy boating, being on the beach, traveling and anything they can do outdoors.

The special friendships he has made in Rotary over the years are especially meaningful to Jacques. He really appreciates the support he has received this year from our club members. He also really enjoys all of the service work we do.
Featured Member, Sam Hinkle
Sam Hinkle

Sam started his career in banking in New York City with Citibank in 1961 after two years of active service in the US Navy. He retired from US Trust in 2004 after being a senior banker in their Naples office.

Sam and his wife, Elaine, have 3 children and 7 grandchildren in Virginia, Connecticut and Florida. Sam has been an avid tennis player since his days at Princeton University and also enjoys photography.

Sam holds the distinction of being the only two time president of The Rotary Club of Naples. In addition to Rotary, he is on the board of the Princeton Club and is treasurer of Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church.

He loves the good work we do for others, the focus on humanitarian needs, the associations and friendships that are established while working together, and the fact that all 1.2 million Rotarians worldwide live with the same basic philosophy, similar ideals and a common understanding.  It is a remarkable organization built on fundamental principles and it has never failed!

How You Can Contribute to TRF

Greetings!

There are three major ways you can contribute to The Rotary Foundation (TRF):

Annual Programs Fund:

  • On your quarterly invoice from the Rotary Club of Naples, there is a suggested $50 donation to TRF.  This is a donation to the Annual Programs Fund (APF).  Our club's APF donation goal for the 2011-2012 Rotary year is $200 per capita.  By paying $50 every quarter, you are doing your share to help us meet this goal.
  • Money you give to the Annual Programs Fund is invested by TRF for three years.  At the end of three years, half of the money is given back to the district (called District Designated Funds, or DDF) and the other half goes to the World Fund.  Interest pays for TRF operations.
  • The district uses DDF to award Matching Grants and District Simplified Grants, as well as to make donations.

Permanent Fund:

  • The Permanent Fund is Rotary's endowment.  The principal is never spent, and a portion of the earnings is directed toward Foundation programs.
  • Contributions can be outright gifts, bequests, or life-income agreements.

PolioPlus Fund:

  • Money donated to the PolioPlus Fund is used exclusively for the eradication of polio.
  • Rotarians around the world were asked to raise a total of US$200 million toward PolioPlus (as of July 2011, US$187 million was raised).  The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will match this with an additional US$355 million, for a total of US$555 million to fight polio.
  • The Rotary Club of Naples will donate $4,500 to PolioPlus during the 2011-2012 Rotary year.

I strongly encourage you to support TRF and "reach within to embrace humanity"!

Yours in Rotary Service,

Frank

End Polio
  • RI Director John Smarge reported to our club last week that in 2011 year-to-date, there have only been 489 new cases of polio worldwide.  Still, we must stay focused to fulfill the promise Rotary made to the world back in 1985:  the eradication of polio.
