Sign Up For Dictionary Day!

Greetings!

Every October Rotarians throughout District 6960 volunteer to distribute dictionaries to third grade students.  "Dictionary Day" is a fun way for Rotarians to give back to the community.  This Rotary year, Dictionary Day will take place on Friday, October 14.

Project chair Jacques Groenteman and Director Nancy Graham are leading our club's planning for the distribution of 405 dictionaries to three local elementary schools:  Lake Park (94 dictionaries this year), Pelican Marsh (162 dictionaries), and Poinciana (149 dictionaries).

We need YOU to please help distribute these dictionaries on behalf of the Rotary Club of Naples!  Our club's volunteers will be divided into three groups, one per elementary school.  On October 14, volunteers will show up at their designated elementary school and visit multiple classrooms within the school, one classroom at a time, to personally hand a dictionary to every third grade student.  The kids are thrilled to receive this gift!

Sign-up sheets started making the rounds at our luncheon two weeks ago.  Expect to see them passed around the room on September 28 and October 5, as well.  If you have any questions about Dictionary Day, please speak with Jacques or Nancy.

Remember, the more you volunteer, the more fun you will have as you "reach within to embrace humanity"!

Yours in Rotary Service,

Frank

This Week's Meeting

Name:  Dr. Shelton Weeks
Topic:  Southwest Florida Real Estate Market Overview
  • The presentation will consist of an overview of current Southwest Florida market conditions.  Commercial and Residential markets will be examined with emphasis placed on their performance relative to other markets across the state.

Meetings

  • Due to ongoing construction around the Sunset Terrace, please note that we will be meeting on the other side of the street in the hotel's conference center in the Mangrove Room this week.
  • Did you catch everything last week during Marcus Zillman's program on the internet? In the likely event you answer "no," here's a link to use as a resource.

District Conference Cruise

  • The 2012 District 6960 Conference will be a 4 night cruise on the Celebrity Millennium from April 12th to 16th.  The ship leaves Miami on Thursday, April 12 at 4:30 p.m., visits Key West and Cozumel, and then returns to Miami on Monday, April 16 at 7 a.m.  Rotarians will do a service project in Cozumel.  The Rotary Club of Naples has budgeted $1,800 toward the cruise, which will be divided equally among all members who make reservations for the cruise.  For example, if six members (and their spouses) make reservations for the cruise, each Rotarian would be reimbursed $300 by the club.  Prices start from as low as $549.51 per person (including all taxes, fees, prepaid gratuities, meals, entertainment, and special conference events).  To book reservations, call VIP World Travel at 941-377-0017.  Please let Sue Cobb know about your reservation as soon as it has been made (no later than November 30, 2011) so that we can plan for reimbursements.
