Worship Sundays 11AM ~ Sunday School 9:30AM

Michael PiazzaAt Sunday's Called Church-In-Conference, the present members of Virginia-Highland Church voted unanimously to call  Rev. Michael Piazza as the next Senior Pastor of Virginia-Highland Church andDavid Plunkett David Plunkett as our next Director of Church Life. Both Rev. Michael Piazza and David Plunkett have generously accepted that call and will begin work  at Virginia-Highland Church  on March 1.

Both expressed their excitement at this opportunity, and Virginia-Highland Church is greatly excited about the potential this team will bring to our efforts to be the church that God is calling us to be. You can view their background information here to learn more about both of them and the gifts and talents that they will be bringing to Virginia-Highland Church.

Rev. Piazza preached Sunday at VHC as part of our Meet-and-Greet weekend and his sermon can be downloaded or played at the link below.

We at Virginia-Highland Church owe an invaluable debt to those who have worked so diligently on our pastoral search and negotiation teams to identify a suitable candidate, construct appropriate job descriptions, and negotiate the terms of employment with the candidates. These wonderful folks include: Rich Wall, Leslie Raymer, Jay Chaffin, Vickie Grimes, Don Batisky, Arielle Pool, Bruce Edwards, Logan Pool, a
nd Becki Jayne Harrelson.

All of us at VHC will be working hard to prepare for the arrival of Rev. Michael Piazza and David Plunkett as the final phase of our pastoral transition process. Rev. Piazza, his partner Bill Eure, and David Plunkett will be undertaking all that is involved in changing cities and jobs. Anna Hall will be transitioning from her current role as Director of Church Life to a new role as Director of Community Outreach. Please keep all of them and Virginia-Highland Church in your prayers during this busy and exciting time.

See you on Sunday!
And in the meantime...

We're famous! Or at least in the news getting some great press...

Check out this article about our Pastoral Transition and the Meet-and Greet Weekend that made it possible in the Virginia-Highland Patch, a web-based neighborhood news outlet. Special thanks to Eileen Drennan, the intrepid reporter who came to many of our weekend events and spoke to several of us to capture our unique story!

And in Dallas, we have gotten some press in the Dallas Voice coverage of Rev. Piazza's transition to VHC, so give that a read as well.

Anna Hall to become Director of Community Outreach

Anna's job will be changing to focus on community outreach as we transition into our new leadership structure, and VHC needs your input on what types of outreach you would like to see at Virginia-Highland Church.

Please take the time in the next few weeks to tell Anna or Thom Hayes, Parish Council Outreach Coordinator your thoughts and ideas so we can all work together to increase our presence and service in our neighborhood and local community.

VHC Honors Patrick Almand for Service

During the worship service this past Sunday, Patrick Almand was honored by the Parish Council and VHC for his dedicated service as Facilities Coordinator over the last decade. He was presented with a love offering and received resounding applause from the congregation. If you have not yet had a chance, make sure to tell Patrick sometime soon how much he is appreciated by everyone at VHC for all the hard work he has done and continues to do, often without recognition, to keep VHC facilities and hospitality operating at its full potential.
