Today we have cause to celebrate! On November 18, 2010, the California Wildlife Conservation Board voted to purchase a conservation easement on FRLT's Heart K Ranch in beautiful Genesee Valley. The easement will be held and monitored by the CA Department of Fish and Game. The sale of the $1,075,000 easement, along with the generous $1.6 million contribution from the Northern Sierra Partnership and gifts from countless dedicated members, will generate enough funds to pay off the $2.6 million bridge loan from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. That means Feather River Land Trust will own the Heart K for the long haul!

We expect to close the loan in the next couple of months, and can turn our attention to planning for restoration, recreation, and educational use.

This has been a tremendous community effort nearly 10 years in the making! We are truly grateful for our generous community of volunteers, donors, and friends who helped keep the dream alive and made this day possible. Local community support was absolutely critical to the Wildlife Conservation Board's decision. Thank you!
