IAPAC and amfAR to Co-Host IAPAC 09

The International Association of Physicians in AIDS Care (IAPAC), in association with amfAR (The Foundation for AIDS Research), will co-host IAPAC 09 - an abstract-driven conference focused on HIV clinical management, prevention, testing, and psychosocial support - in New Orleans, November 29 - December 1, 2009.
 
Conference Structure
 
nola convention centerIAPAC 09 is an abstract-driven conference that will address issues in two tracks:
 
Track A. HIV Clinical Management (IAPAC)
The focus of Track A will be on research related to or practical aspects of clinical management in adults, adolescents, and children, including the delivery of antiretroviral therapy (ART) and the management of opportunistic infections and co-infectious diseases.
 
Track B. HIV Prevention, Testing, and Psychosocial Support (amfAR)
The focus of Track B will be on the design, delivery, and evaluation of HIV prevention interventions, HIV testing initiatives, and psychosocial support services in various clinical and social settings. 
 
IAPAC 09 will also include plenary presentations, panel discussions, interactive case-based sessions, and satellite symposia.

IAPAC 09 Objectives
 
  1. Recognize state-of-the-art approaches to HIV clinical management, including the strategic sequencing of existing antiretroviral (ARV) drugs and the potential advantages of ARV drugs in development over existing ones
  2. Manage complications related to or associated with ART, including hepatic, renal, metabolic, and neurological disorders
  3. Describe behavioral and therapeutic strategies to maximize the effectiveness of ART, including those that will maximize ART durability, minimize toxicities, and prevent ARV drug resistance
  4. Identify the incidence andmanagement of opportunistic infections as well as co-infectious diseases commonly associated with HIV disease, including hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections, as well as tuberculosis (TB)
  5. Develop prevention strategies and disperse education regarding HIV prevention and psychosocial support interventions for various populations of at-risk and HIV-infected individuals
