The Kindled Heart

There's a warm glow by this fire.
Come sit by me and we'll burn together.

We'll play like horses in the meadows,
Frolic like puppies, biting each other's ears.
Come sit by this fire and burn.

~ Neil Bethell Sinclair

Greetings!

Life Force Books announces the LIfe Force Science Facebook Group. I am very interested in how Facebook groups get started and flourish. Why do some groups have 5,000+ members? Are they just Cyberspace manifestations of the "herd Instinct?" Or do they provide a true forum for exchanging information? I don't know. But I want to find out. That's why I started Life Force Science in Oct 2008.

At the beginning, there were only five members. When I visited the Group this morning for the first time in seven months, there were 13 members. How did membership jump from 5 to 13, without me posting a single word? Obviously, a few people found it. So I began to wonder, how do people identify with a Facebook Group? What makes them settle on one group as opposed to another? If I post once a week, will the membership grow? Is the subject too arcane for most people? Again, I don't know. Let's give it a try.

3-Ways to Wisdom debriefing
3-Ways to Wisdom blended the experience of three metaphysical adventurers into one lively event. Each writer gave a 15-minute summary of his latest book, followed by a vigorous panel discussion with questions from the audience. Topics covered during the presentation phase were ecstatic states of creativity, the evolution of human nature in a Kundalini-active world, and various ways of developing and enhancing masculine spirituality.

JJ Semple's presentation addressed "the universality of man's spiritual achievements" including techniques and procedures for stimulating neuroplastic activity. In his latest book, The Backward-Flowing Method: The Secret of Life and Death Semple explained how sexual sublimation (redirecting the seminal fluid) leads to better mental and physical health and prolongs life.

DGFHis previous book, the critically acclaimed Deciphering the Golden Flower One Secret at a Time, told the story of his Kundalini awakening. A companion piece to The Secret of the Golden Flower, Deciphering the Golden Flower One Secret at a Time describes how, through trial and error practice, he was able to unlock the sacred book's secret meditation techniques, which ultimately allowed him to activate the Kundalini~Life Force in a benign, permanent, scientifically controlled fashion.

Author Neil Sinclair's poems are examples of the creativity unleashed by a Kundalini awakening. After undergoing a profound awakening as a student in 1973, Sinclair suddenly felt compelled to write. Inexplicably, words came to him and he wrote them down, almost as if a higher power were dictating them.

"Sudden acquisition of faculties like channeling, prescience, received knowledge, and extraordinary cognition are hallmark effects of Kundalini," says Sinclair. In his new book, The Spirit Flies Free: The Kundalini Poems, Sinclair's inspired creativity explores a variety of subject matter. "Not only do his poems plumb the depths of spiritual enlightenment, they encompass the entirety of human experience, from politics to love, from current events to psychology. What's more, they're witty and fun," says publisher JJ Semple.

Three writers. Common ground. 3-Ways to Wisdom - a moment dedicated to simplifying spiritual exploration?

Who is JJ Semple?
JJ Semple in OcracokeJJ Semple has worked as a film editor for NBC with TV producers Stuart Schulberg and Ted Yates.

In the 1970s and 80s he lived in France, where he directed his own training school, Arazon, a company that prepared managers for negotiation and problem solving. After attending a French business school, he established a subsidiary of UNILOG, a leading French software company, in the US. He returned to Paris to work for Apple Computer Europe, designing multimedia programs. He also taught a multimedia course at the American University in Paris. It was during this period that he began writing feature screenplays.

His screenplay, "Everyone Wants to Make Movies" (co-written with Mark Richardson) won the Telluride award in 1997, and their screenplay "Little Dan" won first place at the Telluride Independent Film Festival in 2000.

Semple's formal education includes studying English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania and George Washington University, and a master's degree in marketing from Hauts Etudes de Commerce in Paris.

His personal education involves yogic practices and spiritual exploration, inspired by a wide variety of teachers, writers and philosophers, including Gopi Krishna, Milarepa, and Lao Tse. However, his worldly accomplishments pale beside his thirty years of investigating workable methods for activating the Kundalini~Life Force. JJ Semple is one of the foremost authorities on the practice and application of Kundalini~Life Force Science.

Says JJ Semple, "My work is inspired by a variety of teachers, writers and practitioners, including Gopi Krishna, Milarepa, and Lao Tse. I don't have a PhD; I never studied meditation with a well-known teacher. I learned to meditate on my own. I found that being on my own let me develop the tools to persevere. I'm talking about the ability to self-monitor and make the necessary adjustments to my practice. If you really think about it, success in anything comes from learning to rely on yourself.

"Sounds counter-intuitive in an age where everything depends on getting a PhD, but what kind of life skills does a PhD give you?

"After many years of practicing Yoga and meditation on my own, I realized my self-reliance had provided me with the knowledge to create a method of my own - a method for self-learners. It's called Golden Flower Meditation, a method I learned through extensive study of The Secret of the Golden Flower. I now use it with students all over the world. Every Yoga teacher and meditation instructor should have it in their toolkit."

The Backward-Flowing Method: The Secret of Life and Death is his second book.

Says JJ Semple, "My books are about redemption and transcendence. But so were the Middle Ages - about scourging the body in order to transcend it. My work isn't about scourging the body; it's about perfecting it in order to transcend it, in order to develop and maintain perfect health and mental awareness right through the golden years. You see, we've moved beyond a purely religious definition of transcendence. Transcendence can be as simple as surpassing one's early circumstances to become an artist, or as elaborate as dying on the cross. We now know - or at least we should know - that there is something beyond the physical, and we don't need prayer to touch it. We can reach out and grab it. That is, we can take an active role in the process. And we can use it to heal and perfect our bodies."
