Harnessing Opportunities through Play and Education
April Challenge
Thanks for all the positive feedback to the first newsletter, it's been very encouraging.

We did promise not to bombard you, however there are two very exciting fund raising events happening which we didn't want you to miss..........we'll keep it brief.

So many of you have already given so much support for which we are very grateful, but please read on.

APRIL CHALLENGE

We have been invited to post a project on the Global Giving website - this is a fantastic international website aimed at putting donors in touch with grass root projects like ours.  We have had to go through a rigorous vetting process to get selected and now have just ONE MONTH to get 50 donors, raising £1,000 in order to secure a permanent place.  This would give us a window to a much wider audience than we could ever reach alone.  We will be the ONLY Cambodian project on the UK site so it really is worth the effort.

So if you have been thinking about a donation it would help us enormously if you can do it via http://www.globalgiving.co.uk/pr/2700/proj2602a.html in APRIL to help us reach this goal and get a permanent page on the site.  The minimum donation is just £5 -  if nothing else check out the site it is very interesting.

CYCLING CHALLENGE - LONDON TO BRIGHTON

The date is set - SUNDAY 12th JULY 2009

We already have over 10 volunteers willing to put themselves through a 60-70 mile cycle (full distance depends on where we start not how many times we get lost!!) to raise funds for HOPE.  Thank you to those guys........Anymore up for the challenge??

It will be a beautiful scenic route, but remember part of the beauty of this part of the world is the North and South Downs which means lots of hills!! It's a tough challenge and will require a high fitness level, but if you are:
· Ready to take on a 2009 challenge?  - just think of all the food you can eat after that exercise
· Reasonably fit or want to get fit? - Cycling is so much cheaper than the gym
· Able to raise a minimum of £250 in sponsorship money for HOPE?
· In ownership of or have access to a good bike?
· Wanting to help in the future of the young people we support?
CLOSING DATE END OF MAY

LET US KNOW ASAP - trustees @hopeforcambodia.org.uk

The ride will have some volunteer support but is not a fully fledged organised trip, so don't expect a rub down and refreshments every 5 miles! We strongly recommend training in the months beforehand - it is important to focus on hours in the saddle as much as distance. A decent bike is also highly recommended with suitable gearing for the distance and terrain. (We can advise on this and recommend a service prior to setting out.).  Any other questons please get in touch

And if you can't make the ride how about joining us in Brighton to celebrate - let us know.
As always on behalf of all the HOPE projects - THANK YOU
