START Center Now Offering Full Range Of Cancer Care In Boerne |
START Center for Cancer Care, San Antonio, TX - July 13, 2009
The START Center for Cancer Care has expanded the range of cancer therapy services at its Boerne location to include full time oncologists and high-quality chemotherapy for patients living in and around Kendall County. Now, in addition to state-of-the-art radiation therapy, patients also have Monday-through-Friday access to chemotherapy and infusion therapy and no longer have to travel to the Medical Center in San Antonio to receive these treatment services. Medical Foundation Opens New Walking/Jogging Trail |

An estimated 30 percent of the population in San Antonio suffers from obesity-a problem that leads to a variety of serious medical conditions, including diabetes. So disease prevention, through exercise, represents an important step in keeping people healthy. The San Antonio Medical Foundation, through its wellness component, has invested more than $400,000 in a paved walking/jogging trail on its property in the South Texas Medical Center. Because there are no other trails or parks in the Medical Center area, the trail will meet a growing need for public space where San Antonians can work on their individual wellness programs. Texas A&M Health Science Center (HSC) for Microencapsulation and Drug Delivery (CMDD) is hosting three students and a science educator, who are trainees supported with National Institutes of Health American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds for vaccine development training. The small business grant recipient is NanoRelease Technologies LLC (NRT) a Texas A&M HSC spin-off company. The Principal Investigator of the grant is NRT President Allison Ficht PhD, who is a Texas A&M HSC Regents Professor and CMDD Director. Full Story. |
