There is plenty of news in the national spotlight right now with healthcare taking center stage but San Antonio is doing a great job of holding it's own in terms of breaking news.
We can start with William Henrich being named President of the UT Health Science Center last week (Congratulations Dean Henrich and we wish you the best in your term as President), then CHRISTUS Santa Rosa announces plans to construct a state-of-the-art freestanding children's hospital, the START Center for Cancer Care hosted a fabulous open house along side their anchor tenant STRIC showcasing their beautiful new building and cutting edge technology, and last but not least the San Antonio Medical Foundation celebrated the 50th anniversary of legislation that established the Medical School of San Antonio that easily touted attendance by some of our industry's most respected leaders and dignitaries.

Henrich, M.D., as president of the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Henrich succeeds Francisco G. Cigarroa, M.D., who was officially named chancellor of the UT System in January. UT Health Science Center Gains Human Research Protection Accreditation |
UTHSCSA, San Antonio, TX - June 18, 2009The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio today announced it has earned full accreditation from the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP). Only 42 percent of academic health centers nationwide have received this three-year accreditation, which ensures higher-than-federal standards of protection for research participants. Full Story. |
