San Antonio Physician Elected to TMA's Board of Trustees

David Henkes, MD, a pathologist from San Antonio, was elected to serve on the Texas Medical Association (TMA) Board of Trustees. TMA's House of Delegates, the association's governing body, elected Dr. Henkes to the position during TMA's annual conference this month. Full Story.
Henrich Named Sole Finalist for President of UT Health Science Center at San Antonio

The Board of Regents of The University of Texas System named William L. Henrich, M.D., as the sole finalist for the presidency of the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio. The Board today (May 14) voted unanimously during a meeting in which candidates were interviewed for the position.  Candidates for the position recently met with several constituent groups at the health science center in San Antonio as part of a series of campus visits. U.S. Department of Energy Announces Hospital Energy Alliance

The U.S. Department of Energy says it's starting the Hospital Energy Alliance, a program designed to promote energy efficiency in the nation's hospitals.The partnership between the Energy Department and national healthcare sector leaders is expected to promote the integration of advanced energy efficiency and renewable technologies in hospital design, construction, retrofit, operations, and maintenance. AAGP Lauds Introduction of Geriatricians Loan Forgiveness Act
AAGPAmerican Association for Geriatric Psychiatry (AAGP) - May 18, 2009
 
The Geriatricians Loan Forgiveness Act of 2009 (HR 1457), introduced in Congress today by Reps. Rosa L. DeLauro (D-CT), Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), James McGovern (D-MA), and Ron Klein (D-FL), will help meet the needs of a growing population of older adults by building a health care workforce trained in geriatrics, says the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry (AAGP). AAGP lauds the efforts of legislators concerned about a shortage of providers trained in late-life health care. Full Story.
