NEWS FLASH!
Happy New Year
Lakeshore State Park
Lakeshore State Park

THE PARK, formerly known as Harbor Island, is the only urban state park in Wisconsin and is designed to provide an urban oasis with recreational opportunities and outdoor programs.

The 22-acre park includes a trail that connects to the Hank Aaron and Oak Leaf state trails; a small watercraft beach area with access for canoes and kayaks; fishing areas and 20 boat slips for vessels up to 60 feet with overnight boat camping available. A bridge connects the north end of the park to the Summerfest grounds and an extension of the land near the Marcus Amphitheater connects on the south. Friends of Lakeshore State Park

NEW THIS YEAR, the 5-mile route will be traveling through Lakeshore State Park on its way back to the Summerfest Grounds. Riders will start by heading North, taking the familiar route through Veteran's Park. On the way back, riders will enter Lakeshore State Park at Discovery World and enjoy beautiful views of Lake Michigan and the Hoan Bridge as they travel along the East side of the island. At the end, participants will pass under the Hoan and come back up Harbor Drive to the new South Gate entrance of Summerfest.

Volunteer Opportunities
Make a Difference

Keep the holiday spirit of generosity going long into the new year by signing up to volunteer with UPAF's Ride for the Arts, sponsored by Miller Lite. The Ride requires dozens of volunteers as early as March to help with preparing materials and registering riders before the event. We need hundreds more to help keep participants safe on the day of the Ride. Volunteers will receive a t-shirt, invitations to both the Volunteer Party and the Finish Line Party, and UPAF's gratitude! Check out this list of volunteer opportunities and feel free to contact us with questions or to sign up!

2012 UPAF's Ride for the Arts, sponsored by Miller Lite

Since 1981, UPAF's Ride for the Arts, sponsored by Miller Lite has been UPAF's annual signature fundraising event to benefit the United Performing Arts Fund and the 36 performing arts groups it supports in Southeast Wisconsin. It is a critical component of UPAF's long term strategy, nurturing new donors, volunteers, and audience members for the performing arts through a fun and entertaining bike event. Last year's Ride raised nearly $550,000 and included nearly 7,000 riders. Since its inception in 1981, 263,000 ride participants, thousands of volunteers and hundreds of sponsors have helped raise $7.3 million for UPAF.
