GRADUATION 

Class of 2011

 

Shura Council co-sponsored the 9th Annual Muslim Graduation Ceremony on June 5th. Celebrating the achievements of 105 young Muslim applicants, many of whom received scholarships. We are happy to report the statistics below that shows of the high achievements of young Muslims especially when about 10% of high school students drop out for one reason or the other.  

 

We pray that those who could not complete their school be blessed with perseverance and resources to complete their education and those who graduated this year be blessed with more knowledge and wisdom. Shura Council congratulates and thanks the leadership of the Muslim Graduation Ceremony for their consistent investment in Muslim youth for the last nine years.  

 

2011 Achievements:   

  • 11 AP Scholars
  • Highest SAT 2340 - Average SAT 1700
  • Highest ACT 32 - Average ACT 25
  • Highest GPA 4.84 - Average GPA 3.8
  • 2 Memorizers (Huffaz) of entire Quran
  • 105 applied and 38 students received scholarships ranging between $250 and $1000 totaling $18,500. 
  • Career choices include Medicine, Engineering, Law, Journalism, Business, Politics and Public Service 

TORTURE AWARENESS 

June is Torture Awareness Month

The Islamic Shura Council is a member of National Religious Campaign Against Torture  who has declared the month of June as torture awareness month. Faith leaders from across the country are joining hands in repairing the brokenness of those who are tortured and also those who continue to torture. Following are some ways to stand up against torture.
