The United States is obese at all levels - by county, State and race or ethnicity. Reports indicate about 17% of children and adolescents ages 2-19 years are obese. Find out what are the contributing factors and consequences. Masajid and Schools can prevent obesity by simply asking communities not to be couch potatoes and by embracing the Prophetic principle of "one third" ... "eat one third, drink one third and leave one third of the stomach empty,". Isn't it time to be a bit leaner instead of remaining super-sized?

BE COUNTED RIGHT

Once every ten years the United States counts its citizens and residents. Faith does not count. Ethnicity is confused. Middle Easterners and North Africans are considered white! Some experts consider this conundrum to be Profit, Power & Privilege - the politics of identity or identification. In any case make sure you are part of the count in 2010.

PLATFORM FOR PREJUDICE

End Bigotry Begin Tolerance

A civil rights group after a year long study reveals in a report that the "suspicious activity reporting" is a platform for prejudice. The report concludes that this initiative invites racial profiling, erodes civil liberties and undermines security. To address this issue, it offers a list of eleven recommendations that calls upon the Congress to hold hearings to know whether these programs actually fulfill their mandate of keeping the population safe. Call upon your representative and ask to hold hearing on the efficacy of suspicious activity reporting.
