Protecting Our Breasts:

Update Our Laws, Not Just Our Facebook Status


In recent weeks, a flurry of online activity has centered around "secret" breast cancer awareness in which women were asked to post the color of their bra as their current Facebook status. 

 

At the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition, we ask, in this new year, that we all take 'awareness' to the next level - towards action. Let's support action to remove toxic chemicals linked to the breast cancer from our environment.

 

There are many ways to take action towards preventing breast cancer:

Federal

Both the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and the Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families campaigns are gearing up to support reform aimed at removing toxic chemicals from our environment.  Click on each link to learn how to take action!

State

Join an MBCC advocacy coalition in your area to keep updated on local actions and events.

Local
NSTAR has plans to spray herbicides along powerlines on Cape Cod and across the state to control overgrowth of vegetation that may interfere with the integrity of the wires.

Active ingredients used in at least one of the herbicide products planned for use on the Cape may be endocrine disrupting compounds (EDC's), a group of chemicals of high concern in the breast cancer community.
