Recall Announcements

Announcements

At the suggestion of one of our customers, we are going to put recall notices in our monthly newsletter.  This will be announced recalls we have received notice on since the previous newsletter.  You will see that most notices effect "some" of the specific model, so just call our service dept with your VIN and we can quickly look it up and schedule an appointment if necessary.

#1 - Technical campaign effecting some 2010 R1200 RT, GS, GSA, and HP2 Sport models.  Camshaft sensor ring may be out of tolerance causing poor running conditions.

#2 - Recall #10V-276. effecting some 2005 - 2009 R1200 GS, GSA, RT, ST, and 2008 K1200 GT.  A combination of unfavorable tolerances can mean that the brake line installed might be under strain.

#3 - We have just received advance notice of a pending drive chain recall on the F650/800 GS models but have not yet received the final recall.

Summer Time
4th of July
Summer has finally arrived, and motorcycling is in full swing.  The fourth of July is always a great holiday because it brings families together, reminds us all of our heritage, great fireworks, and gives us an opportunity to burn a few burgers on the grill.

Things are moving pretty briskly in the shop which is reflective of the time of the year.  One thing that is really noticeable this year is what I will refer to as "inventory control".  BMW has done an excellent job of managing their new bike inventories this year, and it is clearly reflected in almost every dealers showroom.  As an example, last year we might have had a dozen GS bikes in stock, and several available in the BMW warehouse.  This year, we have two in stock and none available to us in the warehouse.  Virtually across all of the 2010 models this year, inventory is limited not only at the dealers but at BMWNA.

What does this mean?  As we transition to the 2011 models later this year, there will be little if any carry over inventory from 2010.  This is a stark contrast to past year's at BMW and certainly a huge contrast to some of the other manufacturer's.  This is good for dealers who won't be carrying inventory over and good for BMW.

I'm sure most you have seen if not heard about the new K 1600 GT and GTL.  If not, take a look HERE for more information about these exciting new motorcycles.   Lot's of great information, but no pictures yet (other than the spy pictures) on the new bike, and no information to the dealers about when we can expect delivery.  Certainly as we hear more about these exciting new bikes we will share that information.

Don't forget to check out our Facebook page for all the latest information and updates, including pictures from our open house here:  BMW Ventura.  It's a quick way to find out what's going on at BMWVC and get updates on all our activities.

The riding season is well under way, but don't forget to have your annual check up.  In the mean time, ride safe.

First Aid
First Aid Course - July 15th
Developed with the motorcycle enthusiast in mind, this course teaches riders how to respond to life-threatening emergencies.  Primary care training combines knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario practice to make sure participants have the confidence in their ability to provide care when emergency situations arise.

The Secondary Care portion of the class covers injuries or illnesses that are not immediately life threatening.  Riders focus on secondary assessment and first aid.  Emphasis will be on demonstrating the practical skills and decision making of how to handle an emergency situation when help is delayed.

Although the scenarios presented in the course will focus on emergencies that riders may encounter, the class covers skills that can be applied to all aspects of life, including topics such as bleeding management, obstructed airway, spinal injury, shock splinting, CPR and AED use.  Upon successful completion of the course participants will receive a CPR/First Aid certification card valid for two years.  Course cost is $75 per participant, space is limited.  To register, please visit our website and complete the registration form.
