If you're not able to build a city with a box of Lion matches, a rubber band, and a Swiss Army knife, you'll also realize that it's unlikely you'll be able to repair your motorcycle with the tools that came with it. (Have you found them yet?) We have three options for you that should suit your need for self-sufficiency, if not quite build a city. The BMW Dakar Toolkit in its handy wearable, big-zipper pouch, has a wealth of useful tools - sockets, Torx heads, wrenches, puncture repair, quick-steel, compressed air, Locktite, duct tape, and a flashlight, lighter and mini-compass! The pouch has multiple pockets and room for many more of your own tools. Price................$230.00
CruzTools have recently released their BMW-specific RoadTech B1 tool roll. With sockets & mini-driver, multiple Torx and Allen keys, open and adjustable wrenches, flashlight, tire gauge, electrical tape and locktite, it is a very useful kit. Price................$119.95
For those of you that already have a garage full of tools and just need a great toolroll to hold them for motorcycle travel, the empty canvas roll from BucketBoss is ideal. With pockets for tools on both edges of the plastic-lined interior, and pouches for sockets and driver heads at the end of the roll, this tool roll is ideal for strapping to the luggage rack or top of the sidecase for those extended journeys. Price..................$19.95

Greetings!
 If you managed to capitalize on the glorious day last Saturday and get over to our Open House, a big "thank you"! It was very well-attended and we were buzzing from 8am. Very encouraging to see all those bikes lined up the street again. Economic recovery - bring it on!!
We have three significant events this month that are worth a mention, so read all the way to the bottom. - The annual Adventure Riders Challenge is 10 days away and in the final countdown for registration;
- Simon & Lisa Thomas are back with a final presentation of their motorcycle journey around the world - final because we'll be saying goodbye to them as they head off in June to continue their quest. Be sure to pencil-in the evening of Wednesday May 20.
- And don't forget the Technical Workshop on May 28.
Sincerely,
Pete MacLachlan

Adventure Rider Challenge - 2009
The Pit & the Pendulums: May 15th - 17th
Wondering what's wrong with this picture? Nothing - you are the first to get a look at the BMWVC Team Challenge shirts that will be worn up at the ARC in two weeks time. Pretty cool huh?
Now sponsored by BMW Motorrad USA, RawHyde's Adventure Rider Challenge (ARC) is North America's most exciting adventure event. This is the third year of the Challenge and this year's event is completely revised to provide more riding - almost 500 miles over mountains with a view of the Pacific Ocean followed by desert riding the next day. Most of the route is dirt - all of it is scenic. A highlight of the Challenge is the Rodeo which requires strong low-speed and balancing skills, especially for the " Pit and the Pendulum". There will be thousands of dollars in prizes and a chance to pit riding skills against other participants. For the first time there will be team as well as individual competition. To learn more please visit Adventure Rider ChallengeTo sign up go to ARC Signup Here

Technical Workshop - May 28
R1200GS 24,000-mile service
Once again our April workshop was well attended with about 20 guests eager to learn some of the technical basics of an F650GS.
I think I need to clarify the registration process - from now on when you register for the workshop you WILL receive a confirmation email from me. Hopefully this will clear up any confusion you may have about available spots and serve as a reminder of the event.
This month Howard will be performing a FULL 24k service on a R1200GS, including a brake flush and alternator belt replacement. A lot to cover so we'll start on time at 5.30pm. Click HERE to register.
