PETER KOLLOCK MEMORIAL RIDE - Saturday 14th March
Additional details of this ride can be found on the website here. Thank you to the 30-40 riders who have confirmed their attendance for the ride; we have a very picturesque route planned for Saturday. Please note that attending the Memorial is not a condition of the ride and entirely voluntary - you can decide to do the ride at the last minute if you wish. Those who are planning to ride with us need to know the following:
- Ride Briefing (at BMWVC) will be at 12 noon
- Departure will be no later than 12.15 pm
- Route is 63 miles and will take about 2.5 hrs with 2 stops & traffic.
- Memorial Service and Reception is on the 2nd Floor (Plaza Room) of the De Neve Commons (UCLA) from 3-5pm (see map here)
We're looking forward to the opportunity of enjoying a ride with you this Saturday!

LADIES WORKSHOP - Feedback
Sweet sixteen was the number of ladies who joined us for what proved to be a most interesting evening for all, particularly Howard, who fielded all sorts of questions he never expected! The range of experience across the group was very broad, from novice to expert, and there were several ladies who felt the need to get their hands dirty. Someone made the excellent suggestion of a Clinic format, where you bring your own bike and work on it under Howard's supervision. This is definitely something we'll consider for another evening event.
Two items that generated universal appeal:
- The need for a Toolkit - the BMW "Dakar" Toolkit ($230) is a comprehensive toolkit as well as having space for extra tools or other survival items, and is now in stock.
- The SPOT GPS personal tracker - send an "OK" message or call for help in an emergency. In stock ($149.95)

The POWER of the STREET RIDE
Some of you have met Craig Leonard, our Self-motivated, Self-sponsored Rider Relations representative, who came up with the idea of actively promoting the shop while conducting monthly street rides and other external activities; anything that takes the shop to the streets. You'll also bump into him at the Rock Store on most weekends, where he discretely waves the BMW banner (as much as a Lava Orange K1300S will allow discretion)!
So, his initiatives have already borne fruit - meet Sandro Zanon, the proud owner of a beautiful new Magnesium Beige Metallic K1300GT, who, along with Craig and several others on the previous street-ride in February, was able to enjoy a full day of riding while also evaluating our demo K1300GT.
Sandro moves up from a well-cared-for 2001 R1100RT, so you can understand the permanent grin he has on his face whenever we see him! Congratulations from all of us Sandro; enjoy your new ride!
The Street Ride series is held on the 3rd Saturday of every month - click on the calendar here for more details of the next ride which will be held on Saturday 21st March.
