Greetings!
|
We're well into February and already starting to see plenty of activity that proves yet again that we live in one of the best riding areas! Bikes are being prepped, serviced, accessorized, or upgraded for new models; riders are getting ready... How do you take part? Keep our 2009 calendar bookmarked and pay close attention to the upcoming activities, which do get added or changed on a fairly regular basis. We also welcome our new owners, which includes yet another lady rider, and recommend you contact our ride leaders and join one of the regular Saturday rides.

Monthly Tech Workshop!
|
Where..............BMWVC Service Dept When...............Every 4th Thursday, 5.30pm (click to sign up)Our first Monthly Tech Workshop was a great success. I hope that we can continue them - Howard's debut was professional enough to take him on to a career in training!! Our full house of 25 customers got all their pre-questions answered and many that were raised on the night. They also got a flavor of what is required to service these machines, and I personally know of two riders who changed their minds about doing their own service and booked their bikes in immediatly. So, it worked out well for all of us... Based on your suggestions, we have decided to set an agenda which will be posted to the calendar ahead of time. This will give you a better idea of what will be covered and whether you want to come along. Here's a preview:- February 26th Agenda (Ladies only):- Apparel overview - form & function (by Cameron);
- Basic bike maintenance - things to check on a regular basis;
- "How stuff works" - making it go; and go faster; making it stop;
- Some basic riding tips - gravity, the center of the universe;
- Chain adjustment & maintenance;
- Brake adjustment & maintenance;
- What to do when things go flat (tubes / tubeless - what does this mean?)
March 26th Agenda (all welcome):- Boxer rocker end-play & valve adjustment;
- Throttle body synchronization;
- Rear brake caliper service / pad remove & replace
- Fix-a-flat on the road (tire plugging practical)
Please register to be sure of a place and to send us any of your questions/issues which we'll address on the evening. Refreshments and snacks will be served. See you there!

| Check your Tires... Please!! |
Some time back we removed this rear tire from a K1200S, and whenever I see this picture I shake my head. The bike was being ridden TWO-UP, came to us for an oil-service only, and because there was so much rubber on the "side" of the tire, the owner was not convinced that he needed a new tire!
Note: that shiny silver stuff streaking down the center is STEEL!
It goes without saying (or does it?) that you should regularly check your tire pressures and while you're down there, take a look at the rubber. Nicks, nails & knife-wounds are no-no's, and you should NEVER see your tire looking like this one.
Besides, the sparks flying off the road could scare your passenger...

Ride the New K1300S / GT
|
Wanna get up close and personal with the new K1300S? Or get a grip with a GT? We can help... After a short discussion with George, qualified riders will be able to sign out one of our two demonstrator 1300 models. Take it around the block; take it for the morning; take it for the day. (The length of your ride will probably be proportional to your interest in one), but you can be certain that once you ride one, you'll be interested! ALSO - Craig Leonard, our new Rider Relations team member, will be taking out one of the brand new demonstrators this SATURDAY on the street ride. Interested riders need to sign the demo waiver form before departure. Try out the bike on the roads it is meant for!
