Hi there,

Just a quick note to share more good news about my debut novel Thirsty:
  • Publisher's Weekly likes it! On August 31, PW said, "[Bair] O'Keeffe's debut gracefully encapsulates the working-class cycle of poverty and hopelessness in the lives of these hard-laboring, sympathetic wives and mothers." Whoo-hoo!
  • Mark your calendars. Tuesday, September 15 is Amazon Spike Day for Thirsty! (And ooh! Win free stuff! See below for more info.)
  • Thirsty is being serialized in the online edition of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. This is a first for the Post-Gazette. A new, innovative way to share books and stimulate literary conversation with readers. Very cool...check it out.
  • I'm heading to the U.S. in a week or so to launch Thirsty. Check the calendar of events on the Thirsty website. Come out and say hello.

Early Praise

"Thirsty is a beautiful tale, vivid and gently told. It is the story of one woman's incredible strength of spirit, and a reminder of the foundation contemporary America is built upon-one of unspeakable cruelty, and Job-like suffering, as well as generosity and unbreakable hope."

--Don De Grazia, author of American Skin

Tuesday, September 15 is my official "Amazon Spike Day!" This is the day on which I attempt raise my debut novel THIRSTY in the amazon rankings. The more copies bought, the higher THIRSTY goes...and the more visibility it gets.

See you next Tuesday at amazon.com.

(And those of you in China, remember to note the time difference. Make sure it's September 15 in the United States!)
Have you watched
the book trailer for Thirsty?

These days, a good book also needs a good book trailer. And wow, does
Thirsty have one of those. Again credit is shared.
While I wrote the script and gathered photos:
  • Jacqueline Francis--a wildly talented musician in Boston (who also happens to be my cousin)---wrote original music. (Original music! This was such a gift to the project.)
  • Donny Truong (once again) pulled it all together and created a stunning, compelling final product.

Watch the trailer now.
