Science Guest of Honor John G. Cramer
John Cramer is a Professor Emeritus of Physics at the University of Washington in Seattle. Although he formally retired in January 2010,
he will continue teaching part time and continue his usual physics research in
ultra-relativistic heavy ion physics, participating in the STAR experiment at
the RHIC facility of Brookhaven National Laboratory (Long Island, NY). He is also currently working on a
popular-level book about the transactional interpretation of QM, as well as a

10AM - 2PM Grand 3A brand new event for Norwescon, the Fannish Flea Market is a four hour flea market being held
Sunday in Grand 3 that features Norwescon attendees selling/trading
fannish related items they want to get rid of. If you have unwanted
science fiction and fantasy-related items, this event is for you! Applications are due February 28, 2010. Click for rules and application information.

VOLUNTEERS We can't do it without you!

You can help make Norwescon happen, especially when you volunteer
time to assist with making sure everything runs smoothly and tasks are
completed. This doesn't just happen while the convention is taking
place. It starts the day before the convention and continues until the
Monday following the convention.
We really need pre-convention volunteers to help set up on Wednesday, March 31s starting at 10AM. Be
one of those proud participants by signing up early.
By volunteering you can earn cool prizes, share in some of the
behind the scenes fun, and compete for great rewards! And don't forget
that by volunteering your time, you also get some great food and
privileges at the convention, and during the summer at the Volunteer Picnic too! Take on a task or two to help make Norwescon 33 that much better than it already is. Here are just a few positions that are open now: - Scheduled Gaming referees

OUTREACH UPDATE

Science Fiction + Fantasy Short Film Festival EMP|SFM in partnership with SIFF will present the fifth annual Science Fiction + Fantasy Short Film Festival
on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the Seattle Cinerama Theater. The
festival brings together industry professionals in filmmaking and the
genres of science fiction and fantasy to encourage and support new,
creative additions to science fiction and fantasy cinema arts.
DETAILS Saturday, January 30, 2010 Session 1, 4:00PM - 6:00PM Session 2, 7:00PM - 9:00PM Seattle, WA at Cinerama Theater
FESTIVAL FORMAT
10 short films will screen in the first session 4:00pm - 6:00pm; 10
short films will screen in the second session 7:00pm - 9:00pm. An
awards ceremony follows the second session.

with volunteers, so stop by and say hello! Norwescon 33 Clarion West Scholarship Norwescon 33 has donated one fully funded scholarship to Clarion West for one of their 2010 writing workshop students. The scholarship will be officially presented at the Norwescon 33 Banquet to be held on Thursday, April 1 at 5PM. Accepting the donation will be the incoming Clarion West Board Chair Kelley Eskridge and alumna Caren Gussoff. "Scholarships don't just give money--they give hope to people who might
otherwise think they can't afford the workshop experience," Eskridge
said when she learned of the donation. "I'm enormously grateful to
Norwescon 33 for their support of speculative fiction writers and
readers, and for this generous gift of hope to a Clarion West student."
Senior Workshop Administrator Leslie Howle added that Norwescon 33's
