Dear OHIO Parents and Families,
I am looking forward to you bringing your students back to campus this week! We have spent the quieter summer months hard at work preparing for the year, but it will be refreshing to feel the energy and enthusiam build as the students come back to Athens. For those of you dropping your sons and daughters off for the first time - you will be just fine! I know this transition will be hard for some of you, but remember we are just a phone call or email away if you need support.
To prepare for the trip this week, you can visit the online Arrival Guide prior to traveling to campus. And please remember, all of those items in the U-Haul won't possibly fit in a residence hall room! For those of you who are having a hard time this week letting go, remember, it is never too early to plan to come to Athens for a visit! Parents Weekend is right around the corner, September 21 - 23. The current schedule of events can be found online through the Parents Weekend event site here. As students return to campus and student organizations finish their planning, we will continue to update the list of events. Tickets and any on-campus, single occupancy residence hall rooms on South Green that can be made available will go on sale on Wednesday, August 29 at 12:00noon though the OHIO Parents website. Online sales will end on Thursday, September 20 at 9:00pm. More events will be added so please check the website often for updates.
Finally, I would like to offer a final reminder to consider applying for a position on our OHIO Parents Advisory Council. We have two positions open for the parents and families of our first-year students (Class of 2016), one position for parents and families of our sophomore students (Class of 2015) and two at-large openings. Parents can apply as an individual or as a couple. Applications will be received through Thursday, August 23. You can find more information and an application here.
I am looking forward to the start of the new year! Please let me know if there is anything my staff or I can do to assist you or your student. Do not hesitate to email or call us at 740-593-1800.
Sincerely, Jenny Hall-Jones, Ph. D. Dean of Students (Interim) |

With around-the-clock access to hourly, daily and overnight rentals, WeCar allows members to maintain the benefits of a personal car while paying only for the vehicle when it is being used. Students access the vehicle during their reserved time by using their membership card with a device located on the vehicle. Keys and a fuel card are housed in a locked compartment within the vehicle and also accessed using the membership card. Once finished, students refuel and return the car to the same location. Fuel, basic physical damage to the vehicle and state-required liability insurance are included in the standard rate plan. The
