OPEN EVEREST CHARITY CHALLENGE
Dear all,
I have included you on this email as I thought that your charity might be interested to hear about our recently launched Open Charity Challenge to Everest Base Camp in November/ December 2011.
This trek will be organised by The Mountain Company and led by Alan Ward. Alan is one of our most experienced trek leaders, in 2006 he was voted as a Worldwide Finalist in the Wanderlust Top Guides Award following recommendations from clients. He is also a qualified International Mountain Leader and is a medically trained.
We decided to organise our Open Everest Challenge after requests from several charities. Often it can be difficult for charities to get sufficient people together interested in joining an overseas Charity Challenge. With an Open Challenge your charity could send only one or two people and still earn considerable funds from this event.
As you probably are aware there are a number of Charity Challenge organisers in the UK, however we think our difference is that we are specialists in organising treks and expeditions to the Himalaya. Personally I spend six months each year leading treks, overall we have an unrivalled knowledge and experience of our destinations.
Our Everest Base Camp itinerary includes fourteen trekking days, from our experience this time is required for necessary acclimatisation to the high altitude. We bring a hyberbaric chamber, satellite phone and comprehensive expedition medical kit on this trek. We use the best trekking lodges in each location. As a result of this high level of organisation we have a very high success rate of getting groups to Everest Base Camp (unlike some of our competitors...)
Included within our service is pre trip support and advice as we understand that for most people this will be their first trekking experience. Included in the cost of the Challenge is a pre trek weekend in Brecon Beacons organised by Alan.
At The Mountain Company we feel the most transparent and fair way for Challenge sponsorship is by the following the self funder method. In this way the Challenger pays for trek costs directly to us and all sponsorhip raised goes to the charity of their choice. However we would be happy to discuss the various funding options individually with each charity.
