2010 SPRING NEWSLETTER
Namaste! I arrived to Kathmandu a few days ago and as usual it is good to be back here. The weather is sunny and warm so it has been a good start to the Spring season in Nepal and definitely a nice change from London!
Our first group of the season successfully reached Everest Base Camp on March 18th, well done and congratulations to them! And thanks to Jhire Rai for doing a good job leading this trek.
I am looking forward to leading our Upper (or Inner) Dolpo to Jomsom trek starting in late April, this is an area that I have been interested in visiting for a long time. This departure is now guaranteed to run and there is still availability so please get in touch soon if you would like to join the group, for more information on our Upper Dolpo trek
For the rest of the year we now have a number of guaranteed departures, most of these trips still have availability however the groups are filling up fast. Please see the list of western led treks with current status in the information box to the left.
In fact we had so much demand for our Mera Peak expedition this year that we decided to organise a second departure starting on October 17th. Our new expedition will be led by regular Mountain Company leader Alan Ward, for more information on our Mera Peak expedition
We are hoping to run the Lunana Snowman trek in September/ October this year, this trek will be led by Gary Pfisterer. Please read more about the Snowman trek further down this newsletter. It is worth pointing out that we have four people signed up so far and need just two more in order to guarantee to run the trip, for more information on our Lunana Snowman trek
I will be in Nepal through to late May however while away trekking Edward in our London office will be taking calls and responding to emails. Please contact us at anytime if you would like to discuss any of our treks.
Kind regards
Roland Hunter
PS: don't forget to take a look at The Mountain Company blog, this is updated regularly to provide you with the latest news and gossip from the Himalaya! |

 | UPPER DOLPO TO JOMSOM TREK IN APRIL 2010
As mentioned above Roland is leading our reconnaisance trek Upper Dolpo to Jomsom in April 2010. It is now guaranteed to run and there is still availability. The dates are from April 25th to May 22nd. Please get in touch with TMC office very soon if you are interested in joining this group.
The Upper Dolpo to Jomsom is a trek that crosses a number of high mountain passes in a rarely visited area of Nepal near the Tibet border. The trail travels through a Tibetan Buddhist region where you will see colourful prayer flags, mani walls and monasteries along the way.

 | LUNANA SNOWMAN TREK IN SEPTEMBER 2010
As discussed above we only need two more people to sign up for this trek in order to guarantee to run this departure. If you are interested in joining this group please get in touch with TMC office soon. For trips to Bhutan it is always better to book sooner rather than later as the Druk Air flights will start filling up quite soon.
Gary Pfisterer is looking forward to returning to lead the epic Lunana Snowman in Bhutan, he is one of the few people around who has already successfully completed this trek on a previous occasion.
The Mountain Company has considerable experience in organising the Snowman trek and understand the logistical challanges involved. Roland led a group in Autumn 2008 that successfully complete the traverse from Paro to Bumthang.

The trip starts with an interesting trek from Chilling through typical Ladakhi landscape before arriving to Stok Kangri Base Camp. There is also an optional extension after the trip to visit the Taj Mahal.
