The Awards for our Coffee Keep on Coming!
Makahiki Farms 100% Kona Extra Fancy Coffee was voted the Chefs' Choice Silver Medal winner at the Kona Coffee Council's annual Cream of the Crop Competition.
The event was held July 25th at the Four Seasons Hualalai Resort here on the Big Island. We were able to meet
people from all over and "talk story" on a warm, beautiful sunny Hawaii
day. We were especially pleased by the nice comments we received on our
coffee.
The Chefs' Choice awards are especially meaningful because they are a blind competition judged by trained culinary experts. We are proud of our consistency in award placement at this event since its inception in 2004.

Farm Update & Google Maps Coverage of the Farm
It is late November and we are about two-thirds of the way through our harvest season which runs from July through January. It has been a very dry fall in Kona, so we've been relying on our orchard drip irrigation system to keep the trees healthy and in top form during the heavy producing season. We expect to harvest once in December and again in January, prior to pruning the orchard to reset the annual cycle and get us started on next year. We were able to share our coffee growing and processing methods with other farmers in Kona earlier this year when we hosted a workshop in association with the Kona Coffee Council. This was an opportunity for us to give back to the coffee community and help support the new (and not so new) farms and farmers. If you'd like to see the location and layout of Makahiki Farms, visit Google Maps to see our beautiful location above Kealakekua Bay and then zoom in to see the orchard, mill, drying deck and other details! Remember that when you visit Kona we'd love to have you visit for a farm tour! |
Join the Makahiki Farms Coffee Club
One of our ordering options is the Makahiki Farms Coffee Club. Our Club delivers freshly roasted (or green coffee for you home roasters) Makahiki Farms 100% Kona Coffee to your door on the schedule that you desire (semi-monthly, monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly) without having to re-order. In return for having a standing order with a credit-card on account, we offer a 20% discount on your entire order. You can adjust your order at any time, and the best part is that you don't have to worry about running out.

Join us on the Social Networking Sites
Become a Makahiki Farms Fan on Facebook and follow our Tweets on Twitter! We still have our monthly "What's New" updates on the front page of our web-site, but with Facebook and Twitter we'll be able to provide a more frequent view into the workings of the farm. Another benefit is that we'll periodically offer limited-quantity specials when we have some extra freshly-roasted coffee inventory that must be sold quickly. Since we roast-to-order, we don't want to keep any roasted inventory, and by sending out notices via Facebook and Twitter we can let folks know in a non-intrusive way that we have a limited-quantity special available. |
| Giving Back to the Community
Makahiki Farms is proud to support a variety of charitable organizations both locally and nationally. By providing our coffee and gift baskets for fundraisers we spread the word about Kona Coffee as well as helping the organizations raise funds for their programs. Examples of organizations that we support are: breast cancer research, coffee for US military forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Kona Hospital Foundation and Oncology Infusion Center, Special Needs Kids Hawaii and many others. For details on these programs please see our Giving Back to the Community page on our web-site. | |
Roast To Order
Our roast-to-order capability is the key factor that provides you with the freshest possible coffee. Your coffee is not roasted until your order is received, and very often the roasting happens just a couple of hours prior to the FedEx or USPS cut-off time. It is not unusual for the shipping folks to remark about how the box feels a little warm! In general, if we receive your order by 6am Hawai'i time, we can roast and ship the same day. |
Mahalo and Aloha!
We look forward to sharing our coffee with you this holiday season and throughout the New Year. Please take advantage of our 20% Off Holiday Discount and let us help simplify your shopping list!
We hope that this holiday season is peaceful and enjoyable for you and your family and friends.
