Holiday Mixer a Huge Success at Sedona Golf Resort
|  On Thursday, December 1 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm, Sedona Golf Resort opened its doors to the Sedona Chamber of Commerce for the annual Holiday Mixer. The event was a resounding success! Working with Verve Events & Tents, they created a beautiful atmosphere where everyone felt welcomed. Emcees Tom and Shondra Jepperson of Entertainment by Tom and Shondra kept the fun going.
We wish to thank the team at Sedona Golf Resort for making the evening so much fun, and for the following businesses who contributed to the success of the event through their donations of raffle prizes: Mystical Bazaar, Psychic Readings by Nirup, Out of Africa Wildlife Park, Sedona Adventure Tours, Body Dialog, Sedona Spirit Yoga & Hiking, Intelligent Quantum Solutions, Tlaquepaque Toy Town, Sedona Reiki Healing, Only in Sedona/Sedona Psychic Wisdom, My Stress Release Now, Hilton Resort & Spa, Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa, and Mark Hoaglund Sales & Consulting, Don Nelms of Farmers Insurance, Adventure Auto Glass, and the Village Ace Hardware.
As in the past, the Marine Corps League had a collection box for their Toys for Tots Program and donations exceed expectations. Thank you to all who participated in this year's Holiday Mixer. We look forward to another year of seeing you all at Chamber of Commerce events.

Good Morning Sedona Preps for Dec. 9 Show
|  The next Good Morning Sedona event is slated for this week on December 9 at Los Abrigados Resort at 7:30 am. Be sure to attend! It will be the Holiday show whose theme is "Joy to Our Community!" Always a festive event, it is also a great opportunity to network with lots of others who are eager to see success for the businesses in Sedona. Its Sedona's #1 way to wake up your business!
There are still advertising and sponsorship opportunities available. Businesses can have their brochures or flyers added to the take away bags each attendee receives. The cost for this is only $15 for 100 flyers. In addition, sponsorship opportunities range from Quickies to Silver and Gold level, each with its specific advantages. Toys for Tots Collection at Chamber Office
|  Sedona Chamber of Commerce is once again happy to serve as a collection point for your donations to the Marine Corps League's Toys for Tots drive. | Chamber to Host "Community Plan in a Box" Party |  This week, the Sedona Chamber of Commerce will host a community planning party on Wednesday, December 7 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at the Best Western Arroyo Roble Hotel. This is an opportunity for the business community to come together to provide input towards the future of Sedona through the City's community plan project. It is imperative that the voice of local business is heard throughout the community planning process. Several of our businesses were unable to participate in the City's forums held in October. Reach Tour Operators and Travel Agents via Chamber's Travel Trade E-Newsletters
|  The Sedona Chamber of Commerce Tourism Bureau sends out quarterly E-newsletters to over 1,300 highly qualified national and international tour operators and travel agents who bring business to Sedona. Those members that have updates for tour operators/travel agents, those that are willing to work with them and offer wholesale rates, group rates, etc. or offer unique programs that are appealing for tour operators to include in their tour programs, please prepare a text of 150 words or less including your contact information. Please note that many of them are working on programs which will be offered to their clients in the future, normally 6 to 18 months out, so the content should be relevant time-wise. Marketing Opportunity to Reach Meeting Planners - There is Still Room Left!
|  The Sedona Chamber of Commerce Tourism Bureau is offering a new program to reach professional meeting planners. The goal is to lure meeting planners who have meetings in the Phoenix metropolitan area into coming to Sedona before or after their convention/meeting for a Sedona "FAM" (familiarization) trip. A special website is under construction and will be marketed through our targeted mailings to planners throughout the USA!
Participating Tourism Bureau Members would be asked to: 1) Submit their brochures to be included in the mailings to the meeting planners. We would need a brochure quantity of approximately 750 total from each participant; and, 2) Include gift items for the Welcome Bags that will be distributed once the meeting planner arrives in Sedona. Examples of gift items might be a gift certificate, or a promotional item. The quantity and examples of the gift items will be determined at a later date.
This opportunity is open to the first 15 Tourism Bureau Members who respond. The cost to participate is $250 total for this 6-month campaign. VisitSedona.com Upgrades Online Booking Engine

 Are you interested in selling your rooms directly from the VisitSedona.com website? It is very easy and requires little management - even if you do not participate in any other online or GDS based programs. This new booking engine can be utilized by all Sedona area hotels, motels, resorts, inns and B&Bs who are Tourism Bureau Members! Here are some commonly asked questions:
Can I access the system through the Internet?
Yes, the system is a user friendly, web-based program that is easy to manage and is a powerful merchandising tool.
Will we need to purchase special software?
No, your current Internet browser will allow you access to the system.
Is there a minimum commitment time period?
No, there is no minimum commitment. The Flexible Net Rate Agreement terms are for one (1) year with a thirty-day notification of termination.

Growth in Leisure and Business Hotel Bookings are UP, Report Shows
The global hotel industry experienced continued bookings growth in October on rising leisure and business travel, a report by Pegasus Solutions shows. Hotel bookings in the leisure-travel segment went up 4.7% globally in October while business-travel bookings worldwide rose 4%, compared with figures last year. Leisure and business travel bookings in North America climbed 5.8% and 3.3%, respectively, during the same period. However, Pegasus predicts that the weak global economy will cause a slowdown in both segments beginning in January. (LATimes.com, Nov. 21)
