INVITATION TO JOIN VANCOUVER TALMUD TORAH'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND COMMITTEES
Each year, VTT parents and members of our community join our school's faculty and administration to support and participate in an incredibly important shared mission: to deliver the best quality education possible to our children.
Many individuals spend years, and countless hours, devoting their time, energy and love to this mission, and the results are evident everywhere you look. We continue to expand and evolve and, as always, we need your help and support to do so.
Much of the work occurs within committees consisting of faculty, administration, directors and volunteers. These committees perform work that often has deep, profound and impactful results.
At this time, we are seeking volunteers that are prepared to assist on the following committees:
- Strategic Development - Finance - Human Resources - Communications - Strategic Planning - Governance - Community - Technology - Campaign Organizing Committee
We are also reviewing nominations for our Board of Directors for the 2012-2013 school year, as well as future years.
If you're ready to get involved and help make a difference, please email Mr. Bill Schonbrun from the Nominations Committee of our Board of Directors at bschonbrun@me.com and indicate your areas of interest and background by June 29th.

SCHOOL NEWS
Michelle Kates, a VTT parent and practicing veterinarian, taught students the safe and proper way to pet a friend's dog.
Summer birthday? No problem! Many of our teachers in the early years make sure to acknowledge those students who miss out on class parties due to summertime birthdates. In the photo about, P4 students received royal treatment from their classmates.
Talk about initiative! Ben & Aaron in Grade 4 independently created a game of Jeopardy to test their classmates' knowledge and retention of everything they learned from Ms. Morrell during the school year. The challenge was a huge hit, especially with their proud and awed teacher!

It's not often an owl visits VTT. Grade 5 students learned about environmental impacts on wildlife through a visit from one of our wisest birds.
City mouse meets country mouse. Grade 1 Hebrew fluency students display their year-end projects.
P3 students marked the end of the school year on a treasure hunt--complete with pirate costumes! In the Grade 7s absence (they're at Strathcona for the week), Grade 5 students took their spots at the Wednesday morning minyan joining sixth grade students. Yes, that's sunshine reflecting off the faces of these Kindergarten students. Most field trips have suffered from poor weather. These students, fortunately, had a fun day in the sun for their Kindergarten picnic. Grade 2C students performed a play on nutrition--all in Hebrew--for their Grade 1 counterparts. Kindergarten students had a special visit from Sandi & Michael Millman of Drum Mama Studios today. Together they played djembe drums, experimented with various percussion instruments and danced up a storm! Clouds couldn't keep these Grade 1 students away from the water park at Queen's Park for their end of year field trip. The rain began right upon arrival back at school. Morah Lily's Grade 5 shuk, where students make crafts and sell them in an Israeli style "shuk" (market) in order to practice their Hebrew, is an annual end of year VTT tradition. To see photos of the unique items for sale, click here. |
