RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS WEEK 2012

Our grade 7 students did a terrific job organizing and leading RAC Week in partnership with their Grade 12 peers at King David High School. Building on the themes of self, friends and family, community and the environment, students collected toiletries and blankets for people in need, studied in darkness to save on energy, and amassed hundreds of dollars in spare change to donate to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. What an amazing thing to witness, all in the spirit of giving to others! This is an important tenet of our Jewish tradition, and seeing chesed (acts of kindness) implemented by our students is inspiring to behold.

What happens when you put a small block of Ivory Soap in the microwave for a minute? It expands to a huge ball of fluff! Noshniks students thoroughly enjoyed this experiment! Try it for yourselves at home...

lettering 
Thomas Watchorn's Art of Lettering students have creating amazing renditions of their names. Look for the display in the school front hall.

music 
Fourth grader Maya B. spent two periods demonstrating musical instruments to Grade 1 students as part of the Tal Am theme on music.
 
tubing 
The fun continued at Cypress Mountain this week when Grade 4 students had a blast snow tubing.

preschool dance
Preschoolers love it when musician Coby visits their classroom with his treasure trove of instruments. Ending his visit with a wild dance to drums is a highlight.  

tefilah 
Grade 2's annual Tefilah breakfast was a beautiful display of Jewish cultural and religious literacy. Kol Ha'Kavod to the second graders and their dedicated teachers, Morah Judith and Morah Mirit.

Thank you Talmud Torah! Our students collected hundreds and hundreds of dollars in spare change to benefit the Leukemia and Lyphoma Society. They'll be rolling coins for weeks!

Have you ever dissected owl pellets? Grade 3 students had the opportunity to discover owls' prey at the Canadian Wildlife Service and Reifel Bird Sanctuary thanks to VTT parent, Daniel Wolfish.

Registration in now open

VTT band teacher Jim Hopson will be performing on Feb 25th, 2012 at the Vogue Theatre as a member of the Plastic Acid Orchestra. Plastic Acid is an energetic fusion of orchestral music, rock, and world music that appeals to all ages. This concert will be the world premiere of two pieces arranged for symphony orchestra by Mr. Hopson, and will feature Maria in the Shower - a local band which has built a HUGE following over the past few years. Tickets sell out quick, book yours ASAP. See poster for details.

Join us for a spring adventure and learn what it would be like to live outdoors like our ancestors did in Egypt. For ages 6-12.
