CELEBRATE LEARNING.

CELEBRATE EXCELLENCE.

celebrate learning

A few weeks ago all families received an important letter themed "Celebrate Learning. Celebrate Excellence."

We encourage everyone to participate with this important request for funds as it will go towards our budget for programs and what we can offer our students.

It is the first time VTT has asked each and every family for support and we hope to get 100% participation.

Thank you in advance to our entire community!

Shabbat Parashat B'ha'alot'kha

Let the Light Shine Through and Go Canucks Go!!

rabbi bellas

Who were those imposters on Wednesday night?  As we all know, in the aftermath of an incredibly disappointing end to what was a very successful Vancouver Canucks' season, chaos broke out downtown.  Rabble-rousers started riots, looting, and caused the senseless destruction of property.  Then, there were the on-lookers.  Hundreds, even thousands, of "spectators" encouraging the rioters by cheering them on, taking their photographs, filming their activities.  Like the vast majority of Vancouverites and other observers from around the world, I was embarrassed, disgusted, and appalled at what I was watching on the news.  I wondered what happened over the course of the last sixteen months? In hosting an incredible Winter Olympics, in February 2010, we showed the world what our city was all about.  On Wednesday night, all of that good came crashing down, or did it?

VTT family Marcus & Daniel Stiller spent the better part of yesterday morning joining thousands of people
in the riot aftermath volunteer clean-up.
In this week's parasha, we are faced with a similar story of a "mob mentality" taking over for the worse.  Parashat Sh'lah contains the tale of the twelve scouts, one from each tribe of the Israelites, who are sent into the Land of Israel by God and Moses to gather information about the inhabitants, land, fortifications, and fertility of the Promised Land.  As this well-known story goes, while all twelve scouts report that the land is a beautiful land, fertile, flowing with milk and honey, ten of the scouts report that it would be impossible to conquer the giant-sized Canaanites, who would easily crush them.  Two scouts, Joshua and Caleb keep the faith and try to keep the spirits of the people positive, but the overwhelming negativity of the ten wins out.    The nation rises up in anger against Moses, questioning why they were even taken out of Egypt if they were going to die in the wilderness or have their women and children carried off by their enemies.

SOME EASY PPP JOBS

Need an easy way to fulfill PPP hours?

We need people to help with doing inventory for TaL Am. Parents need to do the work in the school and need only be able to read Hebrew, not be a Hebrew speaker. We also need someone to count Tal Am books in Morah's Lily's Grade 5 class.

Contact Rabbi Bellas for more info.
