fchm logoWhy It Matters
 by heidi st. john

We are often asked why we are so passionate about building a network of homeschool cooperatives.  Our answer is simple:  Because it's never mattered more than it does right now.  Homeschooling is about parents taking responsibility for the education of their children - emotionally, academically and spiritually, and homeschooling parents need the support and encouragement of their church.

In a culture that has rejected the principles on which it was founded, Christian homeschooling has become a key component in the fight for the hearts and minds of the next generation.  Every FCHM co-op that opens paves the way for another parent or pastor to consider ministering to homeschooling families.

In the hands of Christian parents, homeschooling is a tool that God is using to assist these parents in raising up their children to love and serve the Lord in whatever vocation they are called to.

When pastors open their facilities and hearts to a homeschool co-op, those churches become lighthouses to homeschoolers in their communities.  One location at a time, First Class co-ops are encouraging homeschoolers, building stronger families and sharing the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

You can be part of this counter cultural revolution!  Join the FCHM network of homeschool cooperatives today - and say YES to churches supporting homeschooling families!

First Class co-ops share one vision and one purpose: to encourage and build up homeschooling families.  At FCHM, it is our goal to help pastors and parents work together to form healthy, evangelical homeschool co-ops in their churches.  These co-ops offer academic and spiritual support to the families that attend.  More often than not, it's the word of encouragement from another homeschooler that makes the difference between starting the homeschool journey and completing it.

Speaking of encouragement, Jay and I (along with our children) are crossing the United States this summer to encourage homeschoolers!  From California to Maryland,  we'll be visiting churches, leading a series of worship and workshop events.  Click here to see if we'll be in your area ~ or email us for more information. We hope to see many of you this summer!

Jay and Heidi St. John

Jay and Heidi St. John will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary in 2009!  They are the homeschooling parents of six children who range in age from seventeen to three.  Jay is a gifted worship leader, and Heidi speaks to mothers with humor and grace on many subjects dealing with homeschooling.  If you are interested in having the St. Johns speak at your event, please contact them through FCHM.
