Student of The Month - Zhong Yang Lei |
|
Hello there! I was living with Watson's family located in Middle Cove and was assisted by Global Experience a year ago. I originally from China and I came to Australia to study.
I enjoy fishing and sports and have great interest in IT and PC Games. My favourite place in Sydney is Bondi beach. It is very beautiful especially during summertime. I like Australia and its beautiful sceneries especially the beaches as my hometown is quite distant from the sea shores.
Australia is a very interesting country and although it is quite different from my hometown, especially in terms of food and culture, but I really like this place.
My homestay was also the best homestay ever. Wayne and Don treated me so well during my stay and I had a lot of memorable experiences with them. No one can do better than them, they are very caring and supportive, especially when I just arrived in Australia. They made me feel like home and treated me like part of the family. We did a lot of activities together and remain good friends. I wasn't confident enough to come to Australia before as I felt scared of being lonely in a new place but I was fortunate enough to meet good people like Wayne and Don.
Now that I am studying in Macquarie university, I have moved out from my homestay to an apartment that's closer to the university. I have a good life now and make many friends but I still miss the memories I had with my homestay family. I always get excited when it comes to spending time with them as I can reunite with other students I met during my stay there.
Thank you very much Global. You really did a good job. If there would be anyone asked me about where to start in Australia, I absolutely will refer them to contact Global Experience and perhaps stay at my "first home".

What Are The Benefits of Drinking Espresso |
|
By Douglas Taylor
As long as you do not drink too much, espresso is good for you. But just why is Espresso good for you?
The reason is that it contains antioxidants that many people are unaware of. These antioxidants help to boost your health and it doesn't matter whether you drink espresso or a cappuccino.
Unfortunately lots of people will avoid drinking coffee because of the amount of caffeine that it contains. But this is not the only ingredient in it and there are plenty of others that are actually beneficial to our bodies.
It has been found that the antioxidants contained within coffee help to boost our immune system to lend a hand in staying healthy. It has also been proven that antioxidants can help to decrease the likelihood of someone developing heart disease.
Plus these antioxidants will also help to reduce the risk of someone developing cirrhosis of the liver that can in some cases lead to liver cancer. But it should not be used as a replacement in place of you having regular check-ups or screenings with your family doctor.
In research carried out by various places across the world, the following was found that there were some benefits to be had from drinking coffee.
1. A reduced risk of diabetes
Research carried out at Harvard which analyzed data on 126,000 people over an 18 year period found that by drinking between 5 and 6 cups of coffee a day, men reduced the risk of getting Type 2 Diabetes by 54% and women reduced their risk by 30%.
2. Parkinson's
In a recent study carried out it was found that men who drank 4 to 5 cups of coffee each day cut their risk of developing Parkinson's disease by nearly half compared to those who consumed little or no coffee each day.
3. Heart disease
This one is the biggest killers of people around the world. In a study carried out by Scottish Heart Health on 11,000 men and women (aged between 40 and 59), it was found that the more coffee they drank, the less risk there was of them dying from heart disease.

"It's Time to Get Your Tax Back" |
|
The Australian tax year ended on 30 June 2009. So it's time to submit your tax return. You may be eligible for a REFUND!
If you have lived and worked in Australia for at least six months and have stayed in shared accommodation or rented a flat/apartment during your stay, then you may be classified as a resident for tax purposes. As a resident for tax purposes you could have your tax rate recalculated, resulting in a refund of the tax you have overpaid.
If you have just arrived in Australia, unfortunately you will not be qualified for a tax return. However, hang on to the Tax Refund Application Form and be sure to collect PAYG Payment Summaries after each job you work in Australia. You'll then be fully prepared to claim your tax refund when the time is right, either at the end of the next year and/or when you leave Australia permanently.
If you are from UK/Ireland and didn't complete a tax return before leaving home, you may be eligible to claim back your UK/Irish tax (Call TCP Travellers Refund on 1300 6310 639 for details).
TCP Travellers Refunds guarantees you'll receive the maximum legal refund as fast as possible. A fee of 13.75% including GST (minimum of $98 including GST) is deducted from your return, so there are no up-front or hidden costs. If you don't qualify for a refund there's no fee at all.
To submit your tax return, complete the Tax Return Form and attach PAYG Payment Summaries for each job you have worked. Your employer should issue your Payment Summary within 14 days at the end of the financial year. More information visit www.travellers.com.au.
