 avocado.jpgGreetings!
This past month has been very busy for me.  Perhaps, intense is the word. For, I have been doing some deep inner study for personal growth and change, as I prepare to add Integrative Coaching to my practice in 2009.

Because I have a deep passion for helping people in looking and feeling their best from the inside out, towards living a balanced life and meeting the desires of their hearts . . .  in this issue I am asking you a very powerful question . . . because I believe in you and in your possibilities.  Enjoy the October issue!

With blessings & love,
Alyse
 Directional SignYou,  in the future
"Cherish your visions and your dreams, as they are the children of your soul-the blueprints of your ultimate accomplishments."
    - Napolean Hill

Have you ever thought about a vision for your future?  I'm sure as a child you had big dreams. How are those dreams looking to you today?

Are you doing work that fills you with joy and you are so excited to get out of bed each morning because you know you are answering your soul's calling or do you wake up with dread and complain from morning till night?

Are you living in a relationship that brings you feelings of mutual love and respect or one in which there is more pain than happiness?   Do you dream of a beautiful body that is filled with energy and vitality, yet as soon as you think about that, you dip your hand deep into the candy dish?

Are you moving in the direction of your vision or are you unconsciously sabotaging your dreams?

Every choice that you make either brings you closer to your dreams or farther away from them.  You have probably heard the saying, "Past experience is a good predictor of future experience."  That is true.  Would you like to see your future right now?  You don't even have to pay a psychic, you can do this yourself.  Simply take out a piece of paper and make a list of 10 things that you do not want to happen in the next 10 or 20+ years from now.  Now, stop and  look at the choices you are currently making, the situations you are tolerating, the many times you wanted to say "no" but you didn't; and look at your 'do not want' list.  Are your choices and actions today taking you in the direction of your dreams or  your "I don't want" list? Frightening?  The good news is that you are the one who made the choices up to now and therefore you are the one who can change the direction of your life.

If you want good health, it will be important to eat well.

If you long for a mutually loving relationship, then you will need to make some type of a change  to create that.

If you can't stand your job, it will be important for you to look at other opportunities for work that fits for you.

If you are out of shape, you will need to make a commitment to start moving your body.

If you are feeling alone and isolated, you will need to step back into life. Find a group to join or check out www.meetup.com to find something of interest to you.

Now that you know your vision, you can begin to make new choices.  Commit to take at least one action step this week to move you closer to the future you desire.  Write that step down and post it where you will see it. Make your action step something that you truly know  you can do and will cause you to feel successful. I know you can do it.  I believe in you and in the power of making new choices.  That is why I love what I do in helping people to create happier and healthier lives.

If you would like support around making some shifts in your life, you can email me and I'd be happy to speak with you about how you can do that. emailalyse@aol.com

Kool AideFalse Advertising & Your Health
Please don't be fooled. The Corn Refiners Association has spent $30M on this ad campaign to boost the reputation of High Fructose Corn Syrup.

Of course, these ads are an outrage. Based on that commercial, it is as if we should all be drinking other corn-based products, such as ethanol.

The average American is deeply misguided about their food choices. Be aware that High Fructose Corn Syrup  may be linked with: Diabetes · Obesity · Liver Disease.  It goes into the bloodstream dangerously fast and can be found in sweet carbonated beverages, canned goods, pasta sauces, processed meats, children's cereals, etc.
 Watch the Commerical

Our media makes it sound as if you are soley responsible for your weight and health issues.  That may only be partially true.  When there are products such as this being portrayed as healthy and natural,  it is important that you become an educated consumer.  Eat whole foods and live a balanced lifestyle.  Check in with your body's wisdom to know what is best for you to be eating and treat some of these commericals like the SciFi movie that they are.
 avocado.jpgAdzuki Beans and Squash
       Alyse's Fall Favorite !

 Option #1
 - 1 cup adzuki beans, washed and soaked (over night or 6-8 hours.)
- 1 cup organically grown, unwaxed acorn or butternut squash.  Washed, seeds removed, and cubed (leave skin on).
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- water

Place beans in a pot.  Place squash on top of beans.  Ad just enough water to cover squash but not beans.  Place on a low flame and slowly bring to a boil.  cook for about 2 hours.  Add water occasionally as needed because the beans expand and water evaporates.  When beans have cooked for about 2 hours, add sea salt and continue cooking until most of the liquid is gone.  Place in a serving bowl and serve.

Option #2 add the following:
- Olive Oil
- Brown Rice Syrup or Barley Malt Syrup or Stevia
- Nutmeg powder or cinnamon.

Option #2
For beautiful color use acorn squash:
Cut acorn squash into wedges (leave skin on), par boil by placing the cut wedges face down in a pan with 1/8 - 1/4 inch water.  Cover and steam until partially soft. Test with a fork. Then, place wedges, face up in a baking dish with a 1/4 in. water in the bottom. Cover and bake in the oven at 350 until tender/soft.  Cooking time for the squash could talk about 1 hour total. Test with fork.  Remove from the oven,  Drizzle 1/4 tsp olive oil on each wedge, sprinkle lightly with nutmeg powder or cinnamon and add a small sprinkle of stevia or 1/2 tsp of brown rice syrup or barley malt syrup.  Place back into the oven, uncovered at 300 degrees for 10 or 15 minutes and remove. Place 1/4 cup of cooked adzuki beans inside of each wedge and serve on a platter.

 Happy Halloween
Beware!  The scariest thing about Halloween fun is not all of the spooky costumes, but the amounts of sugar that gets eaten.  Love your body and appreciate your pancreas.  It will be working hard for you to keep your body and blood sugar levels in balance.

Beware of sugar highs and sudden crashes, leading to irritability and mood changes.  And, if you can't keep your hand out of your children's treat bag, ask yourself what is it that you are trying to fill within yourself by eating that extra piece of candy?  Is there something that is not already feeling sweet in your life?
