Greetings!

Our long awaited summer has finally arrived.  And, with that comes the shorts, sleeves tops and the bathing suits.  It is known as the time when you look at your body and evaluate it's condition.  Are you pleased with how you are looking and feeling?  Do you feel your healthiest? I know that sometimes I wish I could throw parts of my body into Photoshop for a remake. But, wouldn't it be better to make peace with your body and your thoughts around it?

This month's issue takes a look at your relationship to your body, food and lifestyle, from the inside-out.  Read the article below to learn more about the beliefs you may be holding about life and how those beliefs may unconsciously be directing your choices and habits around what how, what, when and why you eat.

The good news is that once you understand something, you have the power to change it.
Are you ready?

Happy Summer!

A Perfect Reflection
"Our relationship to food is a perfect reflection of our relationship to Life itself."            ~ Geneen Roth

Your relationship to food is the most intimate relationship you will ever have.  After all, food literally becomes a part of you.  What you eat becomes your skin, your hair, your eyes, your blood and even your mood. Every relationship has it's starting point and even though you have been eating since the first day of your life, over the years you have probably developed patterns and habits that contribute to your health, your mood and your over all well-being today.  The foods you eat and your lifestyle towards it, can be formed from family  tradition, culture, background and surprisingly, what you believe to be true about Life . These larger beliefs about your relationship / connection to all of Life can unconsciously influence all of your choices, including your choices around eating.

I invite you to take a minute right now to ask yourself these questions in relation to the way that you may be viewing Life:

 Is Life Safe?

  • Is it filled with excitement and wonder?
  • Or do sometimes question when the bottom will fall out?

Is Life filled with Love?

  • Or do you often feel you just can't seem to get enough of it?

Do you feel supported by Life?

  • Do you know you will get the right job, right relationship, best experience possible?

Does Life feel easy or difficult?

  • Do you feel blessed everyday?
  • Or, do you worry because everything seems to hard to accomplish?

Do you feel you have enough time?

  • Or too little time and you are always rushing around?

Can you have 'the good stuff' in Life?

  • Or, do other people get it and you rarely if never seem to?

Is is okay to put yourself first?

  • Or, do you feel you need to be kind, sweet and nice to others at your own expense?
Taking the time to look at and understand your personal view of life, can help you start on the road to becoming the healthy and balanced person you would like to be.  It can help empower you towards making healthier, self-loving choices around the food that you eat resulting in a  a positive and loving relationship with your body.    When diet changes, everything changes.

So, the next time you  reach for the junk food, or think about picking up the quickie burger and fries on the way home - ask yourself what you believe about yourself and about life and then be sure listen to the answer.  You have them all inside of you.  I already know that and now you can too.

Are YOU drinking enough water?
  • 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
  • Even mild dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.
  • Lack of water is the number one trigger of daytime fatigue.
  • Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water per day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.
  • A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or printed page.
  • Drinking five glasses of water per day decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, can reduce the risk of break cancer by 79%, and 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.
  • Our bodies are composed of 760% water.  In order to maintain adequate hydration, adults should consume 6-8 glasses of water per day and children should consume 4-6 glasses per day.
