Annual Meeting February 19

Please mark your calendars for the Annual Meeting of the Congregation, held during the 10:00 am worship hour on Sunday, February 19, in the Sanctuary.

Child care (birth - 4 years) will be available on the main floor of the Christian Education Wing (Red and Green Rooms) from 9:45 to 11:00 am (no Preschool Sunday School for 3- and 4-year-olds). Kindergartners through fifth graders will meet in the Chapel for a special movie and activity with Pastor Beth, 9:45-11:00 am (no regular Kingdom classes). Sixth and seventh graders will attend the annual meeting with their parents (no Y-Search Sunday School).  Ninth through twelfth graders, many of whom are members, are encouraged to attend the Annual Meeting (no Senior High Sunday School). Confirmation class will meet as usual for eighth graders.  Note that the 8:30 am service will be webcast instead of the usual 10:00 am.

27th Annual Organ Fest

Sunday, February 12, at 4:00 pm, don't miss an all-star organ recital in the Sanctuary, featuring John Bryant, Keith McNabb, Don Mead, Kirstin Synnestvedt, and Christopher Urban.  A free-will offering will be accepted.  Free child care will be available.  This event will also be webcast at www.fpcah.org.  Contact Ken Whitney with questions.

Ash Wednesday worship
On February 22, you are invited to Ash Wednesday worship at 7:00 pm, with Holy Communion and the imposition of ashes.  Begin your evening with dinner at 5:30 pm in Fellowship Hall, sponsored by First Pres middle school youth.  To help the youth plan this event, please RSVP to the church office.
PADS sign-Up
The PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) Steering Committee is planning to reopen our PADS ministry in Fellowship Hall on Tuesday, March 6.  Please sign up in the Narthex Sunday between services or on  February 19 or 26, or contact Linda Downie.  All shifts must be fully stocked with food and staffed with volunteers in order to go forward.  With your help we can open our doors for the final two months of this abbreviated twenty-first season of serving people who are homeless.  Thanks!
Courageous Parenting in Difficult Times
Gary Gilles has returned to First Pres to teach a timely First Forum class.  It takes courage to push against the cultural values that undermine the importance of the parental relationship in building character and values in children.  Come and learn more in this series for parents of children ages 3 through high school.  Class runs through February 26, from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the Chapel. There will be no class on February 19.  To learn more, visit the Education page on our website.
