| Helping Your Older Student with Reading
As students progress into higher grades, reading material becomes more complex. Comprehension does not always keep pace, but there are ways parents can help.
Springer's program for parents, Reading for Meaning in Grades 6 Through 12: Frameworks for Comprehension, addresses the "intentional thinking" that should occur for comprehension, and offers hands-on strategies parents can employ at home.

New Webpages Celebrate Arts Programs
Two new pages on Springer's website showcase arts enrichment programs that have enhanced the Springer Experience for many years.

Since 1993, the Maureen Wenker Artist in Residence program, created in memory of a Springer parent, volunteer and enthusiastic supporter, has given students a chance to work closely with an accomplished artist.
Founded in 1997, the Norita Aplin Musician in Residence program has brought a successful musician to campus for two weeks each year. The program honors former Executive Director Dr. Norita Aplin for her 14 years of service to Springer.
