Springer School and Center has again teamed up with Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center to bring the internationally renowned Dr. Russell A. Barkley for a second visit to Cincinnati.
In April, Dr. Barkley will present two evening programs for parents and an all-day professional development program for educators, clinicians and other professionals. The April 17 program will provide parents with real-world strategies for helping their children at home and at school. "I made my first friends at Springer!"
Marissa Beyette graduated from Springer in 2007. She credits Springer with helping her grow in self-advocacy, and teaching her the strategies and organizational skills that enable her to handle the work load at Cincinnati Country Day School, where she is currently a freshman. |
| Negotiating the Transition to College
Transitioning to college is a challenging endeavor for any teen. Often the process becomes more complicated when a learning disability is factored into the equation.
Springer's two-hour workshop for parents offers help and advice on topics such as finding the right college, negotiating the admissions process and securing the necessary disability supports.
Presenter Dr. Mary Ann Mulcahey will also counsel parents in helping their child grow in independence, and review options to the traditional four-year college.

| Local Artist Inspires Springer Students
Bellevue Kentucky artist Tyler Hildebrand is in his second week as Springer's Artist in Residence. Tyler has shared with each class about his life and work as an artist, and is now working with a small group of Upper School students on creating caricatures.
Tyler is known for his paintings of sports, music and other celebrities, and his contemporary depictions of cityscapes in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
The artist's visit is sponsored by the Maureen Wenker Artist in Residence program, made possible through a fund created in memory of an enthusiastic Springer supporter and mother of three Springer graduates.

| Bike Hike a Great Success!
Crisp fall weather and a strong turnout made for a successful day at the 2011 Springer Bike Hike and Family Picnic in October. Students and staff and their families enjoyed good food and participated in games and crafts as they raised money for Springer Family Association activities.
SFA President Betsy Ayres was pleased with the turnout. "With over 400 people in attendance, the very generous support of our corporate sponsors and the active participation of not only our current families, but past and extended families as well, Bike Hike 2011 went down as a very special day for the entire Springer community!"
SFA thanks corporate sponsors Fresh Market, Pepsi Co, All Seasons Rent All and Klosterman Baking Company, as well as all the volunteers who helped make the day a success.
