Greetings!
It may be cold and dreary outside, but things are popping inside the halls of Springer!
Signs of summer have cropped up in a lower level hallway, thanks to our Artist in Residence program. A prominent Cincinnati jazz singer brought a soulful message of respect to our students, and a local author chatted with students in February.

A Reason to Celebrate "There are many reasons to celebrate Springer, and the 40th anniversary party will be a great opportunity for Springer alumni, parents and friends to get together," says current Springer Board President Randy Cooper. "For many years, Springer has been the premier resource for families of children with learning disabilities.
I've seen the difference it can make, in my own family and in others. Giving children the skills they need to learn in their unique way leads to success in school and in life."

| 100 Feet of Artistry
After two weeks of planning, practice and painting, Artist in Residence Molly Zakrajsek and her 22 student assistants celebrated the wall mural they created during the artist's visit to Springer. The 50-foot painting extends work from Molly's 2010 visit, making for 100 colorful feet of whimsical designs, patterns and symbols.

The students gathered to unveil their work and share their experiences with staff and parents. The Artist in Residence program is made possible through a fund created in memory of Maureen Wenker, mother of three Springer graduates. Maureen's husband Paul, pictured with the students, was on hand to view the finished work.

| Local Author Brings Story to Springer
Award-winning children's author Mary Kay Carson shared her passion for writing with Springer students on February 17th. A local writer of non-fiction books, Mary Kay has published fourteen books on topics ranging from the deep ocean to outer space.
"I love meeting with students in person like this," said Mary Kay. "They are my audience, and I like to see what excites them."
Mary Kay shared with Primary and Intermediate students some of the stories behind the books she has written. Upper School students met heroes such as Harriet Tubman as Mary Kay led them in an imaginary trip on the Underground Railroad.
