The leaves are changing, cooler breezes are blowing, and Springer students are busy - learning, growing and exploring their world. This month, student s raised funds for the annual Bike Hike and took a step back in time at the Renaissance Festival. We've launched a dynamic new website, and the Center continues to influence education in Cincinnati through its collaboration with the University of Cincinnati. Springer Hosts UC Students
Pre-service teachers from
the University of Cincinnati have visited Springer School and Center for two
full-day seminars, attending along with their mentor teachers. They are
receiving hands-on training in meeting the needs of all students, regardless of
their abilities. The training is provided through C4C, a collaborative program between
Springer and UC, which has benefited over 20 local school districts since its
launch in 2006.
"We're preparing teachers to
deal with the diverse learning issues in their classrooms," says Barbara
Hunter, Springer Center director, "by focusing on the four major learning
systems which are the underpinnings of all learning." C4C, which stands for
Collaborating for Collaboration, was made possible by a grant from the
Harriette R. Williams Downey Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation.

Students Travel Back in Time
 Intermediate School students stepped
into Elizabethan England for a few hours on September 28, when the school's
seven Intermediate classes took a field trip to the Renaissance Festival in
Harveysburg, Ohio. The trip dovetailed the Social Studies classes' unit on the
medieval period. Favorite
attractions were The Mudde Show, and demonstrations of jousting and medieval
weapons. The students had some
interesting things to say about their experience:
"I learned new ways to play with mud."
"The pyro juggler was awesome, but hot." "They taught us about Leondardo da Vinci. He wrote words
upside down and backwards."
"Don't swallow fire at home!"
