Dan Black is our newest hire at ACMi and he is featured here, not so much because he's new, but because he's brought a new workshop to ACMi.  For more on ACMI's new Youth Coordinator and his cool new workshop, read this

ACMI Staff at work...

          ...and at Play

Pre-Production Prep
When ACMi staffers get ready to cover large LIVE events like Patriots' Day, Town Meeting, AHS graduation, or Town Day, they spend many hours preparing and testing equipment, running big cables, setting cameras and microphones, etc.  At times it can seem pretty daunting.
Fortunately we have the dedicated assistance of our members.  We all work and learn together to bring these events and others to our town's viewers.  We love it, AND we love to celebrate together as well.  Here's us having a staff spring birthdays lunch.
Staff Spring B'days Lunch

Sara is shy; Cheryl not with us.

Who said there's no such thing as a free lunch?

(Perhaps you might feel inspired to bring us a

free  lunch sometime.)

   See you at the studio!

  The Greening of ACMi

First it was the tentative call of birds testing the late March air for intra-species meet-ups, and the blazing yellow of forsythia. Then it was the yellow-greens and brown-reds of early leaf buds.  Now it's the deeper leaf greens and lilac of dogwood, and the newest Sally Naish brush of color in our front yard (Light & Shade) landscaping.  Beauty abounds! Can warm air be far behind. (No, indeed!

We also continue our "greening of ACMi" by way of our smoke-free and fragrance-free policy and our use of non-toxic, environmentally friendly cleaning products.  Because of this vigilance, ACMi is a healthful place for us to work and for you to visit.

As our surroundings blossom and our studio showcases new curtains and awaits its new floor, it remains our great pleasure to welcome our members, neighbors, and new acquaintances as they come to visit and create with us ever more useful and enjoyable programming for our town and beyond. The doors are open here at ACMi and something new and exciting is always happening at 85 Park Ave in The Heights.  So... call, email, tweet, friend, and like us.

    You'll be glad you did.

 Town Meeting 2011

Town Meeting 2011

On Monday April 25th 2011 the annual Arlington Town Meeting was called to order.  ACMi was there and still is, as the Warrants are discussed and voted.  After a two-week hiatus, TM resumes on June 8th to finish the Town's business for the year.  ACMi began offering the Town Meeting sessions as Video-On-Demand (VOD) files via its website.  To download, visit: http://vod.acmi.tv/.

Keeping the Free Press Free

We cannot fulfill our obligation to our viewers without keeping them (you) up to date on conditions that may affect freedom of speech and the press--for that is what community media access is charged by its communities to do. In that spirit of keeping our viewers informed, we offer the following link to the alliance of community PEG media organizations like ours. Thank you for your interest in free and independent public information media. To learn more about what our national Alliance for Community Media is doing to help, visit here. You may wish to view this video on the matter.  For information on the so-called "Verizon Bill", click here.

Membership Year 2011-12 is now open!

As of June 1, 2011, ACMi is accepting applications for the 2011-12 membership year. It begins July 1st, but you may join or renew in June and get a bonus month of privileges at ACMi. Where else in Arlington can you receive training and practice in a set marketable TV production skills for the price of dinner and a show?

Chief among the perqs that attend ACMi membership is
a reduced-fee for all ACMi workshops.  See our current workshops

at www.ACMI.tv.  And, if you have a documentary or dramatic project, a film short or green-screen project you've been wanting to put up on YouTube or TV, we have what you need: top quality digital equipment, the training to put it to work for your project, and a new filmmaker on staff to guide you.

What do we get out of this amazing deal?  We get interesting, informative, and creative programming for our Public Access channel.  So wait no longer!  Come make ACMi TV your launching pad to the world of new media and community connections. The doors are open here Monday through Thursday from 10 AM to 9 PM and Friday 10-6.  (July and August hours will be 10-7 M-Th, and 10-5 on Fridays.)

We look forward to welcoming you soon at 85 Park Avenue.
