Town Day 2009 was a a great success--both in terms of good weather, huge attendance, and wonderful entertainment and food.  For us at ACMi it was our best effort yet in bringing comprehensive and quality coverage to our viewing public.  We would like to thank our diligent interns and our terrific volunteers for a great day of LIVE TV production and community fun.

We Share the Air

Please Remember:

ACMI TV continues to be a smoke- and fragrance-free environment. Please do your best to remember, for the sake of those with allergies and respiratory conditions, to not use scented products when visiting or working with us here at ACMI.
Thank you.
Arlington Community Media Inc. was conceived and founded by Arlington citizens to ensure fair and equal access to cable programming from all of Arlington's cable television providers and to provide the training, equipment, and transmission facility for Arlington's residents to use in making themselves seen and heard townwide.  You are the reason we're here.

We're always happy to welcome you at ACMI TV.

The Great Arlington Rivalry

Dear ACMI Members and Friends --

The lazy summer breezes that had set the leaves to rustling behind our Park Ave studio, have given way now to cold evening winds and fallen leaves.
But the interest in community-produced television in Arlington is still heating up as the frost dusts ACMI's freshly landscaped front yard.

First of all, ACMi has a new staff guy -- You won't believe who it is!
(See left-hand column below.)

New programs are in the pipeline, more Town government meetings are now being covered and aired, and shows on hiatus are back with new programming.
(See "What's Up and What's On" below.)

Our first fall 2009 program, Town Day 2009, is now an archived memory, but  it was our best live cablecast ever.  Now we're all about the Big Game on Thanksgiving Day between Arlington High and Arlington Catholic. Be sure to tune in at 10 AM on Thursday morning -- either to ACMI's Education Channel (Comcast 9, RCN 13, or Verizon 24) or via the web at www.acmi.tv.  The LIVE cablecast will be replayed Thanksgiving evening at 6:00 PM and throughout the following week.

ACMi is buzzing with creative and productive activity. We're the busiest now in our 3-year history, and we like it that way.  But there's still time and room for new members and friends.  Call us for a tour and join us in making history at 85 Park Avenue in Arlington Heights.

We'll be sending our Winter News in February.  Until then . . .

Happy late fall and early winter from...

What's Up and What's On (New Shows & New Projects)

Old Favorites, Back on the Air
Some of ACMI's programs take a break for a bit and then come back with new episodes for regular viewing on our Public Channel.

Returning to ACMi this fall and winter is College Life, with Laurie Panico, designed to help high school juniors and seniors with the transition from high school to college. The program also helps college freshman adjust to college life. All aspects of these transitions from securing financing to dealing with social issues and everything in between are thoroughly explored through monthly episodes that feature local and topic-specific
experts.

Also returning is Right Turn LIVE!, the popular TV talk show on issues of substance abuse and addiction. Hosted by Woody Giessmann, the monthly series features local and national
experts who discuss new developments in addiction treatment.

Old Favorites, New Episodes
Just Cook It!, Dave Sammarco's long-running reality cooking series, has just produced 3 new episodes for airing this fall/winter season.  The Family Food Show, produced by ACMi staffer, Cheryl Brusgulis, is not yet an old favorite, since it has produced only four shows, but it is back in the lineup for the fall.

Other returning programs include, YVAP-TV, Retired Men's Club and Golden Opportunities.

Coming Soon
The following are brand new shows, debuting this fall and winter. Multicultural Musical Magazine, produced by Dr. Nish Sonwalker, is a monthly show featuring talented local musicians of various cultural origins.  His first show, to be aired in December, spotlights the traditional music of India.

Akido instructor, Ted Goodman, introduces, this flowing martial art to our viewing audience in his new series now in production. New ACMi member, Bagabati Lennihan, is working on A Healer in Every Home, a new series to empower viewers with information on preventative health care.

New Edit Lab a Hit

 photo
Studio Manager, Jeff Munro, discusses new features of ACMI's new Edit Lab with volunteer consultant, Adam Brooks.  Two Mac stations and one PC station are now fully functional.  There is room to expand to three each.

After converting the former single-station edit suites to staff offices, ACMi installed counters and computers to allow for four simultaneous editing projects (eventually for six).  The new Edit Lab is fully engaged most days and evenings by members whose projects are in post-production. The new configuration also allows for greater accessibility during editing workshops. (See more about workshops below.)
 Workshops at ACMI

ACMi TV continues to offer workshops in single-camera and multi-camera field production, digital editing, and studio operations.  New offerings include an Orientation Workshop for new members, an Advanced Editing Workshop, and a new Studio Production and Directing Workshop.  See the current listing and schedule of these offerings here.

Most workshops: 6:30-8:30 PM (unless otherwise stipulated).
(Final Cut Pro editing workshop is now a 3-part series.)
All our workshops are free to ACMI members.

Reservations required.  Non-member fee: $35.00
RSVP to: Walter@ACMI.tv or call 781-777-1115.
