The Marlborough Plaza Fountain has a notable history. Real estate developer J. C. Nichols purchased it in Venice, Italy in 1922 and gave it to the City of Kansas City, Missouri. In 1923, the fountain was placed on a traffic island on the edge of Nichols' new development - the Country Club Plaza. It remained on the Plaza until 1968 when it was moved to its present location. It recently completed a renovation.
