Cleanup and Restoration of Penn Valley Park Continues

May 21, 2010 . . . Crews continue to work diligently on the restoration and cleanup of Penn Valley Park following last weekend's Rockfest. Removal of festival amenities is nearing completion.

Pursuant to the agreement, Rockfest promoter AEG Live has submitted a plan for turf restoration which is currently under review by Parks officials. Full restoration of the park and repair of areas affected by the event will begin immediately as weather permits. AEG Live has assumed all costs associated with the restoration and cleanup.

"Damage to the park is not insignificant," says Parks Director Mark L. McHenry. "Although the work will be completed in the next couple of weeks, it will take until mid-summer before the damaged areas of the park return to pre-event conditions."

Memorial weekend activities including the Guadalupe Center's softball tournament, the Symphony's Celebration at the Station, and Memorial Day Services at the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial will continue as planned.

The Show Me Pride Festival, scheduled for June 5-6 in Penn Valley Park, will be relocated to Richard L. Berkley Riverfront Park.
