Greetings!

Gout is referred to as the "disease of kings" because it is exacerbated by eating a diet "rich" in fatty foods. Not exactly the "royal distinction" that people want!

In researching gout for this e-mail, I was disappointed to read that the medical industry used drugs as their first line of attack. Gout, without a doubt, can be managed by making good food choices.

Below are some suggestions of good and bad foods for people who suffer from gout.. Supplementation can certainly be of benefit to people who suffer from gout. Our customers have had great success by using Go-Out Plex by Vital Health. But before we get into that, let's see who is most at risk to suffer from gout.

What is Gout?

Gout is one of the most painful types of arthritis. It is caused by high level of uric acid in the body, which can then deposit around joints and form needle like crystals leading to acute painful gout attacks. Eating foods high in purines can raise uric acid levels in the blood and precipitate gout attacks in some people

Who is at Risk for Gout?
  • Gout afflicts an estimated 840 out of 100,000 people.
  • 6% to 7% of older men will suffer from gout.
  • Post menopausal women are also at risk.
  • People with kidney disease.
  • Overwieght people
  • People with high blood pressure
  • People with high cholesterol
  • Diabetes

Symptoms of Gout
  • Severe, sudden pain in one or more joints (most often the joint in the big toe)
  • Swollen joint(s)
  • Red or purplish, tight, shiny skin over joint
  • Warmth in joint area
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • General feeling of illness
  • Rapid heartbeat

Gout can be managed by making changes in your diet. Read on...

While eating the above fruits and vegetables may help with the management of gout, sometimes it's a little difficult to get all the servings a fruits and vegetables a day, that's why I recommend Juice Plus. It is also recommended to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. This will dilute the uric acid in the blood

Drink fruit juices and purified water (8 glasses of water per day)

Tofu, although a legume and made from soybeans, may be a better choice than meat
