President's Article

Not Goodbye...But See You Later
This is my last newsletter. I had my last board meeting. The May luncheon was my last educational program. It's been a month of "lasts". It was time to take away the Negative Nancy attitude and start to think about my firsts: my first nominating committee meeting; my second leadership training (first as Past President!); my first plan for IMPI succession planning; and my first meeting as an MPI Chapter Advisory Council Members with members from around the world.
Everyone always asks the outgoing President how happy they will be to be done. That's a hard question because volunteerism never ends. Being President was a stepping stone to being more in touch with the chapter, making personal and business connections, and seeing the meeting industry from a different perspective.
As I've mentioned many times before, the more you give the more you get with MPI. Now that my focus is on succession planning and leadership development - I will be looking for you and to you. We need your talents, enthusiasm, knowledge, and passion in IMPI. Look for opportunities within the chapter that get you "jazzed"! If you don't see something, let's talk about your talents and maybe we can create a volunteer position for you. It's time for you to take charge of your IMPI experience and I'll be here to help you.
So, this isn't goodbye. In the words of one of my co-workers, it's "See you later" and you definitely will be seeing me! Thank you for a fantastic year, all the kind words of encouragement, and for making IMPI a great community.
See you at the IMPI in Wonderland awards event!
"I always wondered why somebody didn't do something about that. Then I realized I was somebody." - Lily Tomlin
