Use a calendar that has a large space for jotting down things in the daily boxes. Rip it apart and mount the school months in sequence from the left to right across the wall. Mark exam dates in red, and homework due dates in another colour.

This will remind your kids of upcoming deadlines, so they don't leave their schoolwork until the last dangerous moment.
