Homework Tips

A regular schedule is a key factor in academic success. Try to organize your time so that dinner is served at a regular time each night. Once dinner is done, it’s time to do homework in an area that is clear of distractions. If the child gets home from school quite early and has no other commitments you might want to make after school the scheduled homework time.

Consider your child’s age and development when choosing the duration of the homework sessions. High school students can focus for more than an hour. First graders can probably only do 15 minutes at a time. Allow them to take breaks.

Show an interest in what they are doing.
