  • Welcome to our new quarterly newsletter for Academic Advantage teachers! We are learning the new technology of email newsletters, so please be patient as we master new skills over time.

    We hope you had a great summer and are all ready for a new school year.

    New 2006/2007 Prices

    The new prices for 2006/07 are effective September 1, 2006. These prices apply for all tutors and all clients (except for special contracts with schools).

    The administration fee tutors pay to Academic Advantage will be $7.50 for every hour of one-on-one tutoring and $9.00 per hour for 2 or more students.

    For one-on-one tutoring, the new prices are as follows:

    • Grade 1 -7: 1 hour $34, 1.5 hours $48, 2 hours $64
    • Grade 8 - 10: 1 hour $36, 1.5 hours $51, 2 hours $68
    • Grade 11, 12: 1 hour $38, 1.5 hours $54, 2 hours $72
    • University: 1 hour $38, 1.5 hours $54, 2 hours $72
    • Adult ESL/TOEFL: 1 hour $35, 1.5 hours $49, 2 hours $66


    New Ways to Pay

    We are now accepting credit card payment of admin fees through Paypal online. Email us with the amount you will pay and we will email back an invoice with a “Pay Now” button. Just follow the instructions from our email.

    You may also make direct deposits to our Aa account or pay online through your bank. Once again, email us and we can give you our bank transit information.

    Of course we still accept payment by cheque, money order or cash too.


    New Forms

    We have streamlined your monthly paperwork by combining Form #001 (Monthly Record) and #003 (Student's Monthly Progress Report). This new form is called #013, Monthly Record and Progress Report. Now you will no longer need to fill out two separate forms to record the amount the client paid and the student's monthly progress.

    For tutors with multiple students, Form #002 (Monthly Invoice) has been prepared as a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet so you can report all your students on one form.

    When you accept your first new student, we will email you the forms. If you would like them now, please contact us and we will be happy to send them to you.


    First Session Policy

    If an initial assessment is required then the tutor will go to the client’s home and discuss their expectations and goals. It’s up to the tutor to provide an assessment of the students’ level. Tutors will be paid one half hour of the total one hour tutoring rate.


    Cancellation Policy

    If the client cancels with less than 24 hours' notice they will be charged one half hour of the one hour tutoring rate. If the teacher arrives at the client’s home and finds out the lesson is cancelled then the client must pay for one full hour of tutoring.

    After accepting a new assignment please make sure that you have the updated Client Enrolment Form with the new policies.


    Bookkeeping and Accounting

    We must apologize for being behind with our bookkeeping. We have run into a few glitches with setting up Heather, our bookkeeper, with remote access so that she can work from home. In July and August we got caught up on March, April and May. We expect to be totally on track by mid-September or October, as long as no technical problems come up again. Thank you for your patience.
