Greetings!
Did you ever wait for the other shoe to drop
and then wonder how many pair we were actually
talking about? It's been interesting lately, and it
reinforces the concept that the only constant is
change. You can't fight it, embrace it!
It's Results That Define A Leader
|
|
Some people are natural leaders. Some people
are
taught to lead and muddle through. Some people are
forced to lead because of circumstance. They are all
remembered not for their attributes, but for their
results.
Think about the great leaders you have known. They
probably shared some key traits: - They had a
vision - They could communicate that vision
clearly - They had a positive attitude - They
understood the plight of their supporters - They
made you feel like you were all in the same boat -
They were steadfast despite the setbacks - They
admitted when
things weren't going according to plan - They
made minor adjustments to stay on course - They
celebrated the achievements of the group - They
made you feel as if everyone contributed equally to the
achievement.
People we know have
many of these traits. What makes some leaders and
others forgettable? It's measurable results. That's also
what limits the quantity of true leaders. We don't know
in advance if a person with leadership attributes will
achieve the results that will justify the title. Those
who are true leaders aren't even trying to lead, they're
just doing what they think is right and they are willing
to accept the consequences of their
actions.
How do you lead? How do you
choose a leader to follow? Every day we have the
opportunity to create our future. Consider your choices
and commit to your vision.

Focus on Sales
|
|
With the current conditions it's never been more
true that "past results are not an indication of future
performance". You can no longer assume that what
you have done in the past will work now. But, just as it
is possible to sail a boat into the wind and make
headway by tacking and letting the headwind propel
you forward, so it is possible to recognize the
headwinds you are facing and make the small
adjustments in approach that will still allow you to
reach your goals. It might take a little longer, and it
might not be the most direct route, but when you
reach your goal those annoyances will quickly be
forgotten.

Networking Tips
|
|
The last thing you need right now is negativity.
Sure, when things are falling apart it feels better to
commiserate, but that's just your need to feel you are
among equals. So, if average is good enough for you,
carry on. I prefer to associate with positive people who
see possibility. It makes me more creative. It gives me
energy.
The next time you feel like you are
getting sucked in, walk away, turn off the TV or radio,
put down the newspaper and find someone to talk to
or
something to do that will make your life better.

How does your business compare with your peers?
|
|
I recently completed a week of training on financial
analysis and have the capabilities to compare any
business with revenues of $750k to $100m with its
peers using three years of corporate tax returns. I can
look at the same ratios your bank is using to
determine whether to loan you money and help you to
see the areas in your business where minor changes
could make a big difference to your bottom
line.
Do you know someone who would
benefit? Have them give me a call and I will be happy
to explore the possibilities with them. (847) 968-2468.
