Mum is not the word...
I don't know about you, but I am a bit tired of mums. Sure, they have their place, but I know we can do better. We have been growing a collection of plants for a few years now called Fall Magic, from Proven Winners. Many of these plants are perennials, and hence, they can tolerate cold temperatures well. It's a great time to save!
Labor day is a great time to kick off the fall planting season.
Cooler temperatures of September make planting trees, shrubs and perennials a lot easier. Because it's not as hot, there is a loss less watering to do which means less stress on your plants, and less stress on you! Cool temperatures are really good for root growth so that your plants are well established and ready to go in the spring. A lot of people ask me "when is it too late to plant in the fall," and it's hard to say for sure, but earlier is better, so start digging soon! The weather has been great for tromping around in the maze. And over the last few weeks we've completed work on a host of new and improved attractions.
