They're for the birds!

SunnyMaze
or the squirrels or you!  Everybody's been asking, "what are you going to do with all of those sunflowers?" "Well," I said, "I really don't know."  We really grew them just to look at and hadn't thought that much about the seeds.  The whole venture was a huge success, and I can't wait until next year to try some new varieties and colors. But now, the flowers are gone and we are left with thousands of seed heads.  As a thank you to all of you who listen to my occasional drivel here in these emails, I have decided to give them away to anybody who wants to take the time to cut them.  So all day Sunday, October 25 come on in for a hayride, buy a pumpkin, try one of Sue's famous caramel apples and take home all the free sunflowers you can carry, (in your hands, not your wheelbarrow!)  You can tie a head to a tree and make an instant bird feeder, or shell them out of the heads and fill your old stand by.  If you choose the big, fat seeded ones, there not bad eating.   Come early, before they're all picked over.

It's hard for me

to plan more than a couple of days ahead, so I understand why nobody thinks to plant fall bulbs now.  But really, if you can just make this one simple step, and then forget you did it, you'll have such a spectacular surprise every spring for years to come.  After the long, dreary, miserable, rainy, wet winter that you all know we're going to have, it is such a treat to see the first snowbell or crocus poking up through the snow.  Take five minutes now to give yourself a month of joy next spring.  Trust me, it's worth it.
I've spent a lot of time

Tito

talking about the new facility and our new fall festival.  It was a huge success, and I can't wait to make it even better next year.  But I think I've said enough, so I'm not going to say another word about it except that this
is the last official weekend, so if you want to meet and feed Tito or Violet, you'd better hurry because this is it until next year!  Not another word!
